Newcastle in for Acquah?

Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Torino’s Afriyie Acquah, and could send Aleksandar Mitrovic in exchange.

The Magpies are looking to bolster their squad as the battle for Premier League survival, and Acquah would provide some steel in the midfield.

The 25-year-old has made just two starts in Serie A so far this season, so could be keen to move for more playing time.

According to Tuttosport, Newcastle are interested in signing the Ghanaian, and could offer Mitrovic as part of any deal.

Acquah to Birmingham stalls

Torino are stalling Afriyie Acquah’s transfer to Birmingham City and might not let the Ghana international leave at all.

A few days ago, it was reported the move was on the cards for €9m (£8.2m) and his participation in the 1-1 draw at Bologna on Sunday was meant to be a farewell.

Acquah set for Birmingham City

Afriyie Acquah is expected to have his final Torino match today ahead of a €9m (£8.2m) transfer to Birmingham City.

The 25-year-old Ghana international is called up for this evening’s Serie A opener against Bologna.

However, Toro.it are confident a decisive meeting with Birmingham will be held on Tuesday.

Acquah dropped a hint too, as he started following the English club on social media.

‘Birmingham still want Acquah’

Birmingham City are still interested in signing Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah, according to manager Harry Redknapp.

Reports of an €8m bid from Birmingham for Acquah surfaced over a week ago, but despite there not being any developments since then, Redknapp made it clear his club were “always” pursuing the Ghanaian.

Birmingham €8m for Acquah

Torino have received an offer worth €8m (£7.2m) from Birmingham City for midfielder Afriyie Acquah, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The 25-year-old Ghana international has 28 caps and one goal at senior level for his country.

It’s reported that Acquah has already given the all-clear to the Championship switch.

Last season, he contributed two goals in 20 Serie A appearances, but was also sent off three times.

Acquah spent most of his career in Italy, arriving at Palermo in February 2010 for their youth academy.

Acquah-Imbula exchange?

Torino are hoping to include Afriyie Acquah as part of an exchange deal for Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula.

According to reports from Ghana and the Stoke Sentinel, Stoke are in advanced negotiations with 25-year-old Acquah.

Toro have never disguised their interest in Imbula, who had been linked with Milan and Inter in the past.

He was a club record signing for Stoke, costing £18.3m (€24.25m) from FC Porto in February 2016.

However, Imbula failed to make an impact and is hoping to revitalise his career in Serie A.

Juventus saw their all-time Serie A record of 33 consecutive home victories come to an end. The last opponent they failed to beat at the Stadium was Frosinone, a 1-1 draw on September 23, 2015. This was only the second time this season that the Bianconeri had gone behind on their own turf, fighting back to beat Udinese in October 2016.

Torino had also ended another record in March 2016, namely Gigi Buffon’s 974 minutes of Serie A football without conceding.
