Roma resume Mahrez bid?

According to France Football, Leicester City will let Riyad Mahrez go in January for the right offer, so Roma are ready to try again.

The Giallorossi made no secret of their attempts to sign the Algeria international over the summer, but baulked at the €50m price-tag.

A final offer of €40m was tabled in August, but director of sport Monchi eventually gave up and opted for Sassuolo forward Gregoire Defrel instead.

Schick not what Roma need

Roma won the bidding war for Sampdoria striker Patrik Schick, but is he the best use of their resources? Michael Barbaro thinks not.

‘Roma always wanted Schick’

Monchi confirms Stephan El Shaarawy will stay at Roma and says Patrik Schick “was always our obsession”.

The striker is being presented today after his move from Sampdoria, and the sporting director was also in attendance to answer some questions.

“Will El Shaarawy stay?” Monchi considered.

“Yes, there have been no offers.

“Riyad Mahrez? You can’t buy something from someone who doesn’t want to sell, so you stop negotiating.”

Promes an option for Roma

Roma have identified Spartak Moscow talent Quincy Promes as the alternative if Leicester City refuse to sell Riyad Mahrez.

In the meantime, he is looking around for other options and seems to have settled on a Dutch international.
