Neuer to Juventus?

Bayern Munich No 1 Manuel Neuer could sign for Juventus in the summer, reports France Football.

The German shot stopper has been at the Bavarian side since 2011, when he moved to the Bundesliga giants from Schalke.

France Football now reports that the 33-year-old could leave Bayern at the end of the season.

That is because they have already struck an agreement with Schalke for Alexander Nubel to arrive next summer.

Introducing Pau Lopez

Pau Lopez becomes the eighth most expensive ever shot-stopper, so Massimo Nuzzo outlines the strengths and weaknesses of Roma’s new sweeper-keeper.

It’s safe to say the main priority for new Roma director of sport Gianluca Petrachi was finding a goalkeeper to replace the disastrous Robin Olsen. Despite that failed experiment, the Giallorossi have again gone for a foreign shot-stopper with no Serie A experience in Real Betis ‘keeper Pau Lopez.

Not only are many fans not familiar with the 24-year-old, but he also becomes the most expensive goalkeeper ever signed by the club at around €28m and the eighth costliest in football history, on a par with Manuel Neuer.

Alisson most expensive goalkeeper

Roma confirm they’ll receive up to €72.5m from Liverpool for Alisson, with the Brazilian finally breaking Gigi Buffon’s record as the most expensive goalkeeper.

It was officially confirmed today that the 25-year-old has moved to Anfield, and the fee breaks a record which was set 17 years ago.

Buffon left Parma to Juventus in the summer of 2001 for 100 billion lire, around €52m.

Gianluigi Buffon says “I feel like a soldier” at the service of Juventus and Italy but it’s “very probable” he’ll retire at the end of the season.

Bayern eye up Donnarumma?

Bayern Munich are looking to Marc-Andre Ter Stegen or Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma if Manuel Neuer’s injury lay-off is extended.

Gigi the GOAT

If there is someone out there who doesn’t admire and respect Gigi Buffon, both as a goalkeeper and a man, then Susy Campanale thinks they are deeply wrong.

You often see the term ‘GOAT’ appear on social media now and, after realising it doesn’t refer to a bovid, it is regularly bandied about for those who in no conceivable way can be considered the Greatest Of All Time. That is a huge expanse of history to cover and only one coveted spot in their particular niche. There can only be one GOAT. Having said all that, in terms of goalkeepers, it’s Gianluigi Buffon.
