Official: Oddo new Perugia Coach

Massimo Oddo is officially the new Coach of Serie B side Perugia, replacing Alessandro Nesta on the bench.

The decision had been in the air for several days, but was formally announced this evening.

Former Pescara and Udinese boss Oddo has signed on until June 2021.

He was brought in to boost Crotone in October 2018, but resigned eight games later.

Perugia to sack Nesta?

Perugia will reportedly sack Coach and former Italy defender Alessandro Nesta after their elimination from the Serie B playoffs.

Perugia lost 4-1 to Verona after extra time on Saturday, and Sportitalia writes Nesta is ‘on the verge’ of being dismissed.

The ex-Milan and Lazio stopper had recently celebrated a year in charge of the Umbrian side, although their place in the playoffs only came as a result of Palermo’s demotion to Serie C.

Milan enjoy Beatles homage

Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Oddo and Massimo Ambrosini took advantage of their Liverpool visit to recreate an iconic Beatles image.

The four former Milan teammates were in the city after Saturday’s charity event, as Milan Glorie played out a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool Legends at Anfield.

They then took the opportunity to have some fun and recreated the Abbey Road album cover on a zebra crossing.

Crotone: Stroppa out, Oddo in

Serie B side Crotone have sacked Coach Giovanni Stroppa and replaced him with Massimo Oddo.

Crotone only appointed Stroppa over the summer after their relegation from Serie A, but the former Italy midfielder has paid the price for just three wins from nine games.

Replacing him is Oddo, who has been out of work since taking Udinese on a 11-game losing run, leading to his dismissal in April.

Ancelotti inspires Coaches

Carlo Ancelotti will face his former player Gennaro Gattuso when Milan take on Napoli, but Ringhio is far from the only player he’s inspired to take up coaching.

Carletto will face the Rossoneri for the first time since he left in 2009, having won two Champions Leagues and the Scudetto in his time at San Siro.

Hallfredsson: ‘Oddo didn’t trust me’

Udinese midfielder Emil Hallfredsson admits Massimo Oddo “didn’t believe in me”.

The central midfielder, who is going to the World Cup with Iceland, but was dropped when the former Milan man was Coach of the Zebrette.

Did he fear losing his place in Russia?

“No, never,” Hallfredsson insisted, speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport.

“We’ve had the same team for years, the group is never in question, whether someone plays a little or a lot for their club.

Jankto: 'Udinese imprisoned in dirty hotel'

Jakub Jankto has accused Udinese of “punishing the squad by keeping us imprisoned in the worst hotel for three weeks” and can’t wait to leave Serie A.

The 22-year-old Czech international spoke to Ceskatelevize in his homeland and painted a dismal picture of his current club.

“I’ll concentrate on the remaining internationals and then will calmly discuss with my agent what to do next,” said the midfielder.

Pirlo reveals tribute match line-ups

The full list of players for Andrea Pirlo’s farewell match has been revealed, including Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Alessandro Del Piero and Clarence Seedorf.

The former midfielder retired at the end of the 2017 MLS season, but will play in a farewell match at San Siro on May 21.

Some names had already been revealed, but now Il Maestro has announced the full star-studded line-up.

Most of the 2006 World Cup winning squad will be there, as well as legends like Ronaldo, Andriy Shevchenko, Cafu and Demetrio Albertini.

Official: Iuliano joins Udinese staff

New Udinese Coach Igor Tudor has officially signed his former Juventus teammate Mark Iuliano as his assistant manager.

Tudor was appointed yesterday after Massimo Oddo’s dismissal, due to a run of 11 consecutive defeats.

It is his first Serie A management job and the former Juve and Siena defender has brought along Iuliano to join his staff.

It was announced via a statement from Udinese and they had their first training session together today.
