Official: Oddo is new Pescara coach

Massimo Oddo is officially the new coach of Pescara, returning to the club he had already worked with from 2015-17.

The 44-year-old had been in advanced negotiations and Sportitalia stated he was after a two-year contract.

The brief statement announcing his appointment does not mention the length of the contract, though.

Oddo had already taken Pescara to promotion from Serie B to A during his tenure in 2015-17.

Since then, he has gone on to roles at Udinese, Crotone and Perugia.

Oddo in talks for Pescara return

Massimo Oddo could return to the Pescara bench again, as negotiations are in full swing for a two-year contract.

The Delfini narrowly avoided relegation from Serie B last season, needing the play-offs to finish above Perugia.

Funnily enough, Perugia had employed Oddo last term, sacking him twice in January 2020 and again in mid-August.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 44-year-old is first choice for Pescara and in advanced talks.

However, Sportitalia point out he will only accept if it is a two-year contract.

Serie B: Perugia sack Cosmi

Serie B side Perugia have officially sacked coach Serse Cosmi and brought back Massimo Oddo to finish the season.

Cosmi had only been brought in on January 4 to replace Oddo and oversaw four victories, three draws and 10 defeats.

Despite the fact Cosmi is a legend in Perugia thanks to his five years at the Stadio Curi from 1995 to 2000, he was dismissed this afternoon.

Instead, 44-year-old Oddo has returned to the bench, as he was fired in January after 18 months in charge.

Official: Perugia hire Cosmi

Serie B side Perugia have officially hired Serse Cosmi after sacking Massimo Oddo earlier today.

The World Cup winner was dismissed following a 1-0 defeat to Venezia, which saw the Umbrian side drop to eighth in the table.

As expected, they have turned to a familiar face in Cosmi to keep them in the promotion mix.

This is the 61-year-old’s second spell on the Perugia bench, having managed them between 2000 and 2004 with great success.

Perugia: Oddo out, Cosmi in!

Serie B side Perugia have sacked coach Massimo Oddo and will replace the World Cup winner with cult hero Serse Cosmi.

Oddo’s dismissal comes after a 1-0 home defeat to Venezia, which left the Umbrian side eighth and only in the playoffs by the virtue of a point.

Replacing him, reports Sky Sport Italia, will be Cosmi [pictured], who memorably coached Perugia between 2000 and 2004.

The 61-year-old led them through the most successful period in their recent history, which yielded an Inter-Toto Cup in 2003.

The decision had been in the air for several days, but was formally announced this evening.

He was brought in to boost Crotone in October 2018, but resigned eight games later.

Perugia to sack Nesta?

Perugia will reportedly sack Coach and former Italy defender Alessandro Nesta after their elimination from the Serie B playoffs.

Perugia lost 4-1 to Verona after extra time on Saturday, and Sportitalia writes Nesta is ‘on the verge’ of being dismissed.

The ex-Milan and Lazio stopper had recently celebrated a year in charge of the Umbrian side, although their place in the playoffs only came as a result of Palermo’s demotion to Serie C.

Andrea Pirlo, Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Oddo and Massimo Ambrosini took advantage of their Liverpool visit to recreate an iconic Beatles image.

The four former Milan teammates were in the city after Saturday’s charity event, as Milan Glorie played out a 3-2 defeat to Liverpool Legends at Anfield.

They then took the opportunity to have some fun and recreated the Abbey Road album cover on a zebra crossing.

Crotone: Stroppa out, Oddo in

Serie B side Crotone have sacked Coach Giovanni Stroppa and replaced him with Massimo Oddo.

Crotone only appointed Stroppa over the summer after their relegation from Serie A, but the former Italy midfielder has paid the price for just three wins from nine games.

Replacing him is Oddo, who has been out of work since taking Udinese on a 11-game losing run, leading to his dismissal in April.
