Borini: 'Teams won't let Milan play'

Fabio Borini maintains Milan have struggled because “the opposition teams won’t let us play and it’s difficult to break them down.”

The campaign so far has not gone as planned and they’ve found it particularly difficult to get the ball in the back of the net.

“We’ve had a good week of intense training, the mood is positive and we’ll start to see more of the work we’ve done with the Coach now,” Borini told Sky Sport Italia.

Torino knocked back for Borini

Torino were reportedly interested in Fabio Borini, but Milan told them in no uncertain terms that a deal is impossible.

The forward is on loan with the Rossoneri from Sunderland, and they have an obligation to buy him at the end of the season.

According to La Stampa, the Granata made an enquiry about the former Roma man, with a view to signing him in January.

That would have involved the Diavolo buying Borini six months early, before then selling or loaning him to Toro.

The Borini era

Fabio Borini has been one of Milan’s star performers this season, but Elio Salerno worries what that says about the Rossoneri.

When the unsurprising news filtered through of Ricky Kaka’s retirement from football, his former club Milan were fresh off the back of another embarrassing defeat, this time a 3-0 humbling at the hands of lowly Hellas Verona which saw the Milan club’s campaign hit a new low.

Borini given all-clear?

Milan's Fabio Borini has reportedly been given the all-clear after suffering an ankle knock against Bologna.

The forward was seen icing his ankle after being taken off in yesterday’s 2-1 win, with fears he could be set for an extended spell on the sidelines.

According to MilanNews though, Borini had a scan this morning which confirmed that there is no serious injury.

The 26-year-old could miss the Coppa Italia tie with Verona this week, but he should be fit to face the Butei in Serie A next weekend.

Unimaginative Milan

Vincenzo Montella’s adjusted midfield shape failed to threaten Napoli’s goal at the San Paolo, explains Matthew Santangelo.

In the build-up to Napoli-Milan, multiple reports out of Italy suggested Coach Vincenzo Montella was leaning towards not only fielding a few different faces, but also running out a different shape. Naturally, opinions were mixed on the many projected changes, but once official line-ups were announced, the Rossoneri’s formation and placement of certain personnel resulted in plenty of head-scratching.

Borini bouncing back

While Milan splashed out on star names this summer, Fabio Borini has been the surprise standout performer, writes Richard Hall.

Whilst the Rossoneri were spending in abundance this summer, Fabio Borini arrived with few fans and arguably fewer hopes. His loan move from Sunderland surprised many and would have seen more questions asked, had the likes of Andre Silva and Leonardo Bonucci not been catching the eye of the expectant fan base.

His new club promised much, but as yet have not delivered on expectations, as their players try desperately to gel as a cohesive unit. Despite all the odds however, Borini has been one component that has impressed in his time so far.
