Reja: 'Most painless defeat'

Edy Reja admits “there has never been such a painless defeat” after Atalanta secured Serie A safety despite losing 4-1 to Genoa.

The Orobici would’ve been safe anyway with a point, but didn’t even need that because Cagliari lost 1-0 at home to Palermo.

“There has never been such a painless defeat,” smiled the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.

Reja left with Lazio regrets

Edy Reja felt Atalanta deserved more than a point against second-placed Lazio, but “it could prove decisive.”

The Orobici dominated the first half and had taken the lead through Giuseppe Biava, but Marco Parolo grabbed an acrobatic late equaliser.

“Before the game I would’ve been happy with a draw, but in the first half we pegged Lazio back and caused them serious problems,” Reja told Sky Sport Italia.

Reja 'expected more from Roma'

Atalanta boss Edy Reja celebrated a point at the Olimpico, but confessed he “expected more” from Roma.

The 1-1 draw was decided by two first half penalties, converted by Francesco Totti and German Denis.

“It’s a very important point for the table and a particular morale-booster in this difficult time,” Reja told Sky Sport Italia.

The Orobici are still hovering right above the relegation zone, but rarely seemed under that much pressure in this game.

Reja: 'All at fault for Atalanta'

Atalanta's Edy Reja has owned up to his mistakes after the 2-1 defeat to Torino, and said a victory is now “imperative.”

La Dea are currently four points away from the relegation zone, and their hopes to extend that gap yesterday crashed against the Granata's two-goal advantage before half-time.

The home team's regrets were compounded by appeals for what could have been a penalty on Mauricio Pinilla, but their Coach prefers to let the matter rest.
