Wk2: Breaking taboos

Napoli, Juventus and Inter showed they are learning not to repeat historic mistakes, so Susy Campanale hopes Andrea Belotti does too.

If anyone wanted proof that Napoli have matured into genuine Scudetto contenders, then they got their response on Sunday night. Atalanta were the only side to do the Serie A double over them last season and history seemed to be repeating itself when Bryan Cristante nodded in a corner – when will Maurizio Sarri sort out their defending from set plays?! – to stun the Stadio San Paolo. Spal snatch 3-2 thriller

Spal fumbled a 2-0 lead against Udinese, eventually winning this 3-2 thriller with a stoppage-time Luca Rizzo curler.

It was the first top flight match played at the Stadio Paolo Mazza in 50 years and the crowd was certainly given a show.

Marco Borriello equalled the record thanks to his opener, meaning he has scored for 12 different clubs in Serie A.

VAR was a big protagonist during this match, which led to a lot of stoppages, as the technology was used to show Manuel Lazzari was not offside after the referee had originally disallowed it.
