Inzaghi disappointed by Lazio draw

Simone Inzaghi admits Lazio should have done better in their disappointing goalless draw with SPAL.

The Biancocelesti, a week on from their impressive Supercoppa win over Juventus, were left frustrated by a dogged rearguard action by the newly-promoted side.

“We could and should have done better,” Inzaghi conceded in his post-match interview at the Stadio Olimpico.

“SPAL played a good match, not just defensively, but in attack as well.

Spal snatch point off Lazio

Newly-promoted Spal had the best chances and clipped the woodwork, holding Lazio to a surprise goalless draw.

The Aquile fell back down to earth a week after beating Juventus 3-2 for the Italian Super Cup.

Simone Inzaghi’s men found themselves nullified by minnows Spal at the Stadio Olimpico and, if anything, the visitors went closest with Federico Viviani clipping the upright.

Zaza linked with Cagliari move

Simone Zaza is being linked with a return to Italian football, with Cagliari said to be interested.

The Valencia forward has been suggested as a possible replacement for Marco Borriello, who left the Sardinian side to join newly-promoted SPAL.

According to local newspaper L’Unione Sarda, Napoli’s Leonardo Pavoletti remains the favourite to bolster the Rossoblu’s striking options.

However, with a deal with the Partenopei yet to be finalised, Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini is said to be monitoring Zaza’s situation in Spain.
