Report: SPAL want Locatelli

SPAL will reportedly resurrect their interest in Milan midfielder Manuel Locatelli next month.

SPAL failed to bring in Locatelli during the summer, but ItaSportPress believes the Biancazzurri will try to loan the 19-year-old a second time in January.

The Italy Under-21 international made 28 appearances for the Rossoneri last season but has started just twice in Serie A this time out.

Miha: ‘Absurd to drop points’

Sinisa Mihajlovic blasted his Torino side after they let a two-goal lead slip at SPAL.

An early Iago Falque brace meant the Granata were well on course for victory in Ferrara, but the home team fought back for a share of the points.

“It is definitely absurd to lose points in this way, just like against Verona,” a furious Mihajlovic told reporters.

“I am very disappointed. SPAL did well to keep believing they could come back.”

Semplici critical despite SPAL fight-back

Leonardo Semplici was both critical and proud of his SPAL players after they fought back to claim a 2-2 draw with Torino.

Not for the first time this season, the Biancazzurri gave themselves a mountain to climb after falling two goals behind early on.

However, goals by Federico Viviani and Mirco Antenucci salvaged a valuable point for the home side in their battle to avoid relegation.

“We are inattentive, we make too many mistakes,” a frustrated Semplici said after the final whistle.

Sinisa Mihajlovic warns his Torino side not to underestimate Spal - “if we don’t play at our best, we could be beaten”.

SPAL secure stadium financing

SPAL announced they have secured the financing to revamp the Stadio Paolo Mazza and increase the capacity to 16,000.

The arena currently holds 13,020 spectators, so they are allowed to use it in the top flight thanks only to a special dispensation by the FIGC.

“The biggest test will be to safeguard our Serie A status and we’ll do everything to stay in the top flight,” said President Walter Mattioli.

“It is the most difficult year, we’ll fight to the end, but we’ll do it.”
