Oikonomou set for Spal

Serie A newcomers Spal have reportedly secured a deal for Bologna defender Marios Oikonomou.

The 24-year-old Greek international is due to arrive on loan with option to buy that would become an obligation if Spal avoid relegation.

Oikonomou has been in Italy since 2013 at Cagliari, then joined Bologna in the summer of 2014.

He had 19 appearances for the Rossoblu this season between Serie A and Coppa Italia.

Spal get Felipe and Viviani

Newly-promoted Spal have deals for Udinese defender Dias Felipe and Hellas Verona midfielder Federico Viviani.

It was already reported by Sky Sport Italia today that centre-back Felipe would join for €1m.

The minnows have also seemingly secured an agreement for Viviani, the 25-year-old who spent this season on loan at Bologna.

Viviani came up through the Roma academy, playing for the likes of Padova, Pescara and Latina.

This term, he scored two goals with two assists in 17 Serie A games for Bologna.

Dias Felipe heads to Spal

Dias Felipe has surprisingly left Udinese for newly-promoted Spal in a €1m deal, claim Sky Sport Italia.

The defender, also known as Felipe Dal Bello, is due to make the permanent transfer this summer.

He turns 33 next month and was under contract with the Friulani until June 2018.

Felipe is expected to sign a three-year deal with Spal, who won the Serie B championship to earn their shock promotion.

SPAL: ‘Meret, stay with us’

SPAL President Walter Mattioli urges Napoli target Alex Meret to “stay with us for another year and grow”.

The Udinese goalkeeper spent last season on loan with the Estensi, helping them to win promotion to Serie A.

It has been rumoured that he could join the Partenopei to eventually replace Pepe Reina, but the SPAL patron believes he should remain for another year to gain experience.

“Meret is a great goalkeeper, he can be among the best in Italy,” said Mattioli on Radio Crc.

Conti closer to Milan deal

Andrea Conti is closer than ever to joining Milan, as Atalanta reportedly lower their demands to €25m.

The right-back, currently representing Italy at the European Under-21 Championship, made it very clear he only wants to join Milan and will reject any other proposal.

The original €30m asking price and the Rossoneri’s €20m offer were too far apart, but Sportitalia and Sky Sport Italia suggest they are finding common ground.

Milan go for Neto?

Milan reportedly want Juventus goalkeeper Neto to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma and have arranged a meeting with his agent.

According to Sky Sport Italia via Planetamilan.it, Milan and Neto’s agent will meet on Friday as the Brazilian is “the No 1 candidate to replace Gigio”.

Mattia Perin is also “liked” by Vincenzo Montella, but the Coach “is not convinced” by the Genoa man’s fitness after two ACL injuries in the past year.

Serie A schedule announced

The Lega Serie A has officially confirmed next season’s schedule, with no Christmas break.

Italy CT Giampiero Ventura had asked for the season to finish earlier, with the 2018 World Cup due to get underway on June 14.

Today the Lega Serie A has released the dates for the new season, which will kick-off on Sunday August 20.

The campaign will finish on May 20, 2018, with the Coppa Italia final moved to May 9 to avoid clashes with the Champions League final, and to give more time for World Cup preparation.

Serie A: Benvenuto, Benevento!

Benevento are in Serie A for the first time in their history after beating Carpi 1-0 in the Serie B promotion play-off Final.

They go into the top flight along with Hellas Verona and Spal. It'll be the first time we see a Campania Derby in Serie A since Avellino-Napoli in 1987-88.

The first leg ended 0-0 at Carpi’s Stadio Cabassi and the decider was at Benevento’s Stadio Vigorito, where the hosts were hoping for a second consecutive promotion.

Spal target Lapadula

It’s reported that SPAL could make a bid for Milan forward Gianluca Lapadula in the summer.

The Ferrara-based club have just been promoted into Serie A, and according to local newspaper La Nuova Ferrara, the striker is a target for the Spallini.

The 27-year-old joined the Rossoneri from Pescara for €9m last summer, and has played in Serie A for the first time this term.

Since then, he has made 12 starts and 14 substitute appearances, scoring seven goals, but has reportedly failed to convince Coach Vincenzo Montella.

Pazzini: 'So proud of Verona'

Giampaolo Pazzini was Capocannoniere and took Verona to promotion back into Serie A. “I am really proud and couldn’t be happier.”

Hellas got through with tonight’s 0-0 draw at Cesena, promoted with Serie B winners Spal.

“This year was a long suffering, which for me started last season with the disappointment of dropping down to Serie B,” Pazzini told Sky Sport Italia.
