Wk2: Breaking taboos

Napoli, Juventus and Inter showed they are learning not to repeat historic mistakes, so Susy Campanale hopes Andrea Belotti does too.

If anyone wanted proof that Napoli have matured into genuine Scudetto contenders, then they got their response on Sunday night. Atalanta were the only side to do the Serie A double over them last season and history seemed to be repeating itself when Bryan Cristante nodded in a corner – when will Maurizio Sarri sort out their defending from set plays?! – to stun the Stadio San Paolo. A few months ago, there is no way Napoli would’ve come back from that, but this is not the same team.

Del Neri: 'Draw would've been fair'

Gigi Del Neri believes “a draw would’ve been the fair result” after Udinese were beaten 3-2 by Spal in stoppages.

The Friulani had fought back from 2-0 down at the Stadio Mazza, but were undone by a last-gasp Luca Rizzo curler.

“We do have certain limitations when it comes to reading the game,” confessed the Coach on Rai Sport after their second defeat of the season.

Spal snatch 3-2 thriller

Spal fumbled a 2-0 lead against Udinese, eventually winning this 3-2 thriller with a stoppage-time Luca Rizzo curler.

It was the first top flight match played at the Stadio Paolo Mazza in 50 years and the crowd was certainly given a show.

Marco Borriello equalled the record thanks to his opener, meaning he has scored for 12 different clubs in Serie A.

VAR was a big protagonist during this match, which led to a lot of stoppages, as the technology was used to show Manuel Lazzari was not offside after the referee had originally disallowed it.

Rigoni to leave Genoa

Luca Rigoni is ready to leave Genoa due to a lack of playing time, with Chievo and Spal interested in taking him on.

The 32-year-old midfielder will be out of contract at the end of the season and arrived from Palermo in January 2016.

According to Sportitalia, he is frustrated at the lack of chances given to him by Coach Ivan Juric.

Chievo are the most likely option for Rigoni, as he already played there from 2008 to 2014.

However, Serie A new boys Spal are another intriguing opportunity.
