Serie A patch for Astori

All Serie A teams will wear a special patch this weekend with a message for Fiorentina captain Davide Astori.

The Italy international died in his sleep on Sunday at the age of 31 and the funeral was attended by thousands of fans, as well as representatives from all the clubs, in Florence today.

Benevento had announced their jersey for the game against Fiorentina would include a patch on the sleeve reading: #ciaoDavide13

Now the Lega Serie A has announced that all teams this weekend will wear the same message.

Orsato for Inter-Napoli

Daniele Orsato has been announced as the referee for this weekend’s Inter-Napoli game.

The Partenopei lost to Roma last weekend, so now sit just a point ahead of Juventus, with the Bianconeri retaining a game in hand against Atalanta.

This weekend Maurizio Sarri’s men travel to Milan to take on the Nerazzurri, and today the AIA has announced that Orsato will be the man in the middle.

Davide Massa will be on VAR for Sunday night’s game.

Bologna lose Poli for two weeks

Bologna will be without midfielder Andrea Poli for two weeks after he suffered a lesion to his left calf muscle.

The veteran limped off just five minutes into Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to SPAL, having already been in doubt before the match.

He has now been diagnosed with a lesion to the flexor in the left leg and will be out of action for at least two weeks.

Rodrigo Palacio is already on the treatment table for a similar length of time, while Simone Verdi did not train today due to flu symptoms.

Roma & Juve given one-match bans

Roma’s Edin Dzeko and Juventus’ Alex Sandro have been given one-match bans for yellow-card accumulations.

Lega Serie A confirmed the suspensions on Monday, with both players penalised for their bookings against Napoli and Lazio respectively.

They are joined by teammates Edin Dzeko and Stephan Lichtsteiner, the quartet set to miss the next round of fixtures, when the Giallorossi host Torino and Juve take on Udinese.

Bologna defender Giancarlo Gonzalez and SPAL full-back Federico Mattiello will also sit out their team’s next games.

De Zerbi: ‘Obliged to win'

Roberto De Zerbi says Benevento must respect Verona in their crucial Serie A relegation six-pointer.

Le Streghe have shown signs of life of late in their uphill battle against the drop, although SPAL’s win over Bologna yesterday means they start today 13 points shy of safety.

And speaking ahead of the clash against the team directly above them, De Zerbi admitted his side are ‘obliged to win.’

“It is an important match, a little bit more so than others,” the former Palermo boss said.

Donadoni: 'Worst start for Bologna'

Roberto Donadoni felt Bologna put in “a positive performance after the worst possible start” against SPAL, but explained that amazing miss.

The match was decided by an Alberto Grassi strike at the dawn of the second half, but Bologna were down to 10 men for practically the entire game, as Giancarlo Gonzalez saw red for a last-man foul on Mirco Antenucci.

Semplici: 'SPAL win was deserved'

Leonardo Semplici believes SPAL’s 1-0 win over Bologna “was deserved” and urged them to “keep chasing the dream of Serie A safety.”

This was their second consecutive victory, and their first clean sheet with Alex Meret in goal, but it took an Alberto Grassi strike to beat 10-man Bologna.

“I thank the lads who gave a sense of consistency to the performance against Crotone by taking on a strong side like Bologna,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

SPAL beat 10-man Bologna

Alberto Grassi’s bullet strike proved decisive for SPAL in a feisty affair, but 10-man Bologna failed to equalise thanks to the miss of the season.

This was an ill-tempered local derby and tussle in the danger zone, and it showed, as within 10 minutes Giancarlo Gonzalez was sent off for a last-man foul on Mirco Antenucci.

Godfred Donsah was fortunate not to follow after a sliding tackle in muddy conditions, but Grassi got the winning goal after the restart with his low strike from the edge of the box.
