Cagliari drop Borriello

Marco Borriello is believed to be in talks with SPAL, and Cagliari haven’t called him up for their trip to Juventus.

The striker scored 16 goals in Serie A last season, and signed a new contract with the Isolani last month.

Despite that, Alfredo Pedulla’s website believes he’s set to leave Sardinia, with talks taking place with newly promoted SPAL.

Borriello out of Cagliari squad

Marco Borriello is almost certain to leave Cagliari after the striker was left out of their Serie A opener against Juventus.

Reports of a conflict between Borriello and Cagliari boss Massimo Rastelli emerged on Thursday, and it has now been confirmed that the veteran will not travel for Sunday’s clash in Turin.

Tuttosport explains the forward’s exclusion stems from his angry reaction to being recalled to the bench by Rastelli during the side’s 1-1 draw with Palermo in the Coppa Italia last Saturday.

Cagliari eye Pavoletti swoop

Marco Borriello is heading towards Spal, so Cagliari aim to replace him with Napoli outcast Leonardo Pavoletti.

Multiple sources suggest today that Borriello has played his last game in Sardinia following a row with Coach Massimo Rastelli.

Sky Sport Italia are confident he’s going towards Spal, despite interest also from Bologna and Genoa.

It’s possible the 35-year-old hitman will simply terminate his contract by mutual consent.

Spal favourites for Borriello

Marco Borriello is eager to leave Cagliari, according to multiple reports, with Spal, Bologna and Genoa interested.

The centre-forward just turned 35, but is still raring to go and scored 20 goals in 37 games for Cagliari last season, between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

There were rumours of tension with Coach Massimo Rastelli and those stepped up several gears today.

According to Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, Spal are the most likely destination for Borriello.

Elsewhere, Michael Fabbri will run the rule over Napoli’s trip to Verona, with Pierpaolo Mariani entrusted with Crotone-Milan.
