Agents: 'Players can refuse after June 30'

The Presidents of the Agents’ Association warns that the issue of contracts has not been resolved in an expanded season. ‘Any player out of contract can refuse to play after June 30.’

As football was locked down for almost three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2019-20 season won’t end until at least August.

This is a problem for players whose contracts expire on June 30, whether they are on loan or have already agreed to join another club after that date.

FIGC medic: 'Could cut COVID-19 quarantine'

A virologist and member of the FIGC medical commission confirms ‘the rule could change’ regarding a 14-day quarantine, as COVID-19 is ‘weaker’ in Italy now.

The medical protocol for Serie A’s resumption from June 20 had to include an automatic 14-day isolation period for the entire squad in case of a positive coronavirus test, not just the person who caught the disease.

There are the very real fears that with this rule in place, one positive test among players or staff could bring the entire tournament to a halt.
