Leao and Di Lorenzo suspended

The Disciplinary Commission announced seven bans after Serie A Week 17, including Milan forward Rafael Leao and Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Milan must cope without Leao in the 18th round of fixtures, whilst Napoli must cope without Di Lorenzo, who was also given a one-match ban.

Seven players in total are disqualified, with Pedro Obiang out for one match after his sending off against Juventus.

Tomas Rincon will miss Torino’s match against Spezia, whilst Parma must cope without Hernani against Sassuolo on Sunday.

Giampaolo: 'Torino must not lose faith'

Marco Giampaolo defends Torino’s losing start to the season and some of his tactical choices. ‘The important thing is the lads don’t lose faith.’

The Granata have zero points after three matches played, including this afternoon’s 3-2 home defeat to Cagliari.

Official: Rincon extends at Torino

Tomas Rincon has officially extended his contract with Torino until June 2022, with an option for another season.

The 32-year-old’s current deal was due to expire at the end of the 2020-21 term.

A Venezuela international, Rincon has been with the Granata since the summer of 2017, when he made the unusual move of crossing from Juventus to their city rivals.

Rincon spent most of his career in Italy, first arriving in Serie A with Genoa in 2014.

He has played 116 competitive games for Torino, scoring six goals and providing five assists.

Rincon raises funds for families

Torino and Venezuela midfielder Tomas Rincon has launched a funding initiative to raise money for people left unemployed during the coronavirus lockdown, donating €1,500 himself.

While there are calls for players to dock their pay in order to help clubs stay afloat, Rincon is taking a personal approach to the crisis.

“I am trying to find different ways to help a country that welcomed me like a son from the first day I arrived here,” wrote the Venezuela international on Instagram.

Serie A: Two-match ban for Balo

Serie A handed Brescia star Mario Balotelli a two-match ban and a €10,000 fine after the sending off against Cagliari, whilst eight other players are suspended.

Balotelli came lasted only seven minutes on the pitch after coming off the bench in the 74th minute, as he was first awarded a yellow card for a foul and then another for insulting the referee.

The Diciplinary Commission gave its verdict and decided that the Brescia forward will have to sit out the games against Milan and Bologna, as well as a fine for insulting the match official.

Rincon: 'I always argue with Sirigu!'

Tomas Rincon insists almost coming to blows with Torino teammate Salvatore Sirigu “happens every week, but it stays between us.”

Video of the training ground clash went viral, showing Sirigu trying to come into contact with the midfielder and being dragged away by teammates, then storming off as he threw his gloves and shirt to the ground.

Video: Sirigu and Rincon dragged apart

Torino teammates had to intervene after Salvatore Sirigu and Tomas Rincon almost came to blows during a furious training ground row.

Calciomercato.com published video footage of the incident, as seen from the stands.

It seemed as if goalkeeper Sirigu was sitting out the training routine and started shouting something from distance to Rincon.

As the words got more heated, Sirigu stood up and charged towards the midfielder, with Emiliano Moretti and Lorenzo De Silvestri diving in to drag the pair apart.

Milan: Paqueta's season over

Lucas Paqueta’s season is over after the Milan midfielder was given a three-match ban for his red card against Bologna.

Paqueta had been booked for reacting badly to a foul during Milan’s 2-1 win on Monday, but he was then shown a straight red card for tapping the arm of referee Marco Di Bello.

The suspension means the Brazilian will miss the Rossoneri’s remaining Serie A fixtures against Fiorentina, Frosinone and SPAL.
