Barca and Man City want Bastoni

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni was targeted by both Barcelona and Manchester City, claim reports, in an exchange with Joao Cancelo.

The 20-year-old centre-back came up through the Atalanta youth academy and has been impressive at San Siro this season, even pushing Diego Godin on to the bench in recent weeks.

His performances did not go unnoticed outside Italy’s borders, as Mundo Deportivo suggest Barcelona made an offer for Bastoni, but it was rejected outright.

Cancelo: 'Walker above and beyond'

Joao Cancelo thanked Kyle Walker for “going above and beyond for the team” by taking the gloves in a 1-1 draw with Atalanta, but felt Manchester City were hard done by.

“Going in goal is not my speciality! Kyle Walker showed a great attitude and he really went above and beyond for the team,” Cancelo told Sky Sport Italia.

Juventus wrong to ditch Cancelo

Selling Joao Cancelo to Manchester City and receiving an inconsistent Danilo in the deal makes no sense for Juventus, writes Anthony Barbagallo.

Juventus are renowned for making smart business decisions in transfer windows by snapping up free signings, producing savvy acquisitions and occasionally purchasing that star player. But ever since the Bianconeri signed Aaron Ramsey, Adrien Rabiot, Merih Demiral and Matthijs de Ligt, the Italian champions have lost their way in the latter stages of this current window.

Selling Moise Kean to English Premier League side Everton was a short-sighted move, with the club management only thinking about financial gain rather than building up a future Italian star.
