Inter plan ahead for Modric

Inter are already planning for next season, claim Spanish newspaper Sport, as Luka Modric could be available from Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri had already targeted Ballon d’Or winner Modric in the summer of 2018 and were rebuffed, but the situation has changed substantially.

Antonio Conte is now at the helm, the club is investing heavily and above all the Croatia international’s contract is due to expire in June 2021.

It’s also fair to note that Modric will be 35 in September, so it all points to his departure from the Bernabeu.

Halilovic: Can be like Modric

Alen Halilovic has insisted that “I can still be like Luka Modric” after leaving Milan for Heerenveen.

Halilovic was considered Croatia’s next big thing after Modric when he joined Barcelona from Dinamo Zagreb in 2014.

However, the midfielder’s career has yet to take off and he will spend the season in the Netherlands with Heerenveen.

“Heerenveen did everything to sign me, which was lucky for me,” the 23-year-old told Voetbal International.

Inter prepare Rakitic swoop

Ivan Rakitic has already given the all-clear to joining Inter next summer, claim Italian papers, as Barcelona won’t offer a new contract.

According to Spanish newspaper Marca, his future is increasingly unclear at Camp Nou, as the club is unwilling to increase his salary or extend the current deal, which runs to June 2021.

The Blaugrana already have an agreement in place to sign Frenkie De Jong from Ajax at the end of this season, so an exit is more than likely for Rakitic.
