Ranieri: 'Roma concede too many goals'

Claudio Ranieri celebrated the 2-1 victory over Empoli, but defended Alessandro Florenzi and warned “the leitmotif is to help Roma concede fewer goals.”

This was officially his ‘debut’ on the Giallorossi bench, although really his return for the first time since February 2011, having come back to act as caretaker manager after Eusebio Di Francesco’s dismissal.

Roma scrape victory on Ranieri debut

Stephan El Shaarawy and Patrik Schick gave Claudio Ranieri a 2-1 victory over Empoli on his Roma debut, but Alessandro Florenzi saw red and VAR disallowed an equaliser.

This was the ‘debut’ for Ranieri after Eusebio Di Francesco’s dismissal, although in reality it was his return after resigning in February 2011.

Ranieri: 'I'd only do this for Roma'

Claudio Ranieri “would not have done this for any other club” after taking the Roma caretaker job. “We fans want players to prove they’re worthy.”

This is his second stint on the bench after a decade away, having returned as a caretaker manager following Eusebio Di Francesco’s dismissal.

“I continue doing this profession because it gives me strong emotions and my return to Roma is something special, especially for us Roman fans,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Roma striker Patrik Schick is expected to miss 2-3 weeks of action with a thigh injury.

Corriere dello Sport reports Schick visited a clinic in Barcelona on Tuesday ahead of undergoing treatment.

The Czech will consequently miss a busy period of action, which includes the Derby della Capitale against Lazio on March 2 and possibly the second leg of Roma’s Champions League last-16 tie with Porto.

Report: Schick blow for Roma

Roma have reportedly been dealt an injury setback as Patrik Schick is set to be sidelined for two weeks with a thigh problem.

The 23-year-old has made 23 appearances for the Giallorossi so far this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

However, he'll now miss the Champions League clash with Porto on Tuesday night, and he's expected to be ruled out of action for two weeks, according to Sky Sport Italia.
