Official: Grosso new Sion coach

Former Brescia coach Fabio Grosso has reached an agreement with FC Sion in Switzerland.

The club officially announced a one-year deal for the World Cup winner, who will be followed by his assistant Stefano Morrone.

The 42-year-old led Brescia in three games from November to December in 2019 and has previous stints as coach for Bari and Hellas Verona.

Sion finished eight in the Swiss Super League and have signed an initial deal with Grosso at the helm until June 2021.

Brescia blasted for calling sacked coaches

The Italian Association of Coaches sent out an angry statement blasting Brescia for the bizarre decision to call in sacked managers Eugenio Corini, Fabio Grosso and their staff during the coronavirus lockdown.

Everyone in Italy is urged to stay at home and restrict travel, as the virus has killed 2,503 people in the country so far.

It is therefore inexplicable that Brescia have called Corini and Grosso, along with their staff, fitness coaches and collaborators, to a training ground when they were fired earlier this season.

Corini farewell to Brescia squad

Eugenio Corini left a hand-written note to Brescia players after he was fired for the second time this season, replaced by Diego Lopez.

The coach had already been axed in November and returned a month later, as Fabio Grosso lost all three games at the helm, but he was dismissed again this morning.

As the training session was cancelled today, Corini wanted to say goodbye to the team in a personal fashion with a hand-written note left in their dressing room.

Brescia to fire Corini again?

There are reports Brescia President Massimo Cellino is ready to fire Eugenio Corini for the second time this season and bring in Diego Lopez.

According to Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport, Cellino is unsatisfied with today’s 2-1 defeat to Bologna and the fact they’ve picked up just two points from the last six rounds.

It’s suggested the notoriously trigger-happy patron, formerly of Cagliari and Leeds United, is taking the night to think about his options.
