Milan linked with Rakitic again

Milan will try again to sign Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona, claim Mundo Deportivo, but his €8m per year salary represents a big problem.

According to the Spanish newspaper, the Rossoneri are set for a third attempt to coax Rakitic to San Siro.

He is seen as a leadership figure and star name in midfield to help younger figures around him develop.

The 32-year-old Croatia international’s contract with Barcelona is due to expire in June 2021 and a summer exit is not out of the question.

Rakitic: 'Napoli defended with 11 men'

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic says it was hard for his side to attack Napoli because it's hard "when a team defends with 11 men" following their 1-1 draw last night.

Napoli took the lead through Dries Mertens in the first half, before Antoine Griezmann equalised for the Catalan side in the second half.

Barca struggled to create any real goal scoring opportunities, and Rakitic explains why.

“We knew it would be a difficult game. Napoli closed the game down,” Rakitic told Calciomercato.com

Rakitic and Harit 'influenced' Todibo

Jean-Clair Todibo has opened up on his move to Schalke 04, after being close to joining Milan on loan from Barcelona.

The French defender had been targeted by the Rossoneri, who were working hard to get a deal across the line, but as the defender wanted the Blaugrana to include a buy-back clause in his deal, it eventually fell through.

The 20-year-old ended up at Schalke in Gelsenkirchen on loan with an option to buy including buy-back option, just how the centre-back wanted it to be.

Rakitic and cash for Bernardeschi rejected

Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio claims Barcelona offered €10m plus Ivan Rakitic for Federico Bernardeschi, but Juventus wanted double that.

There had been reports in Spain and Italy over the last few days of negotiations between the clubs for a Rakitic-Bernardeschi exchange deal.

However, it had been assumed the cash sum would be relatively small, perhaps even in favour of Barcelona.

Instead, Di Marzio maintains Barcelona proposed Rakitic plus €10m cash to take Bernardeschi to Camp Nou, but Juventus turned it down.
