Two-match bans for pair

Genoa forward Goran Pandev and Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic have been hit with two-match bans in today’s Giudice Sportivo verdict.

Pandev is punished for not only receiving a red card during the 2-2 draw with Lecce but also insulting the referee, which in turn saw him fined €12,000.

He will therefore miss Genoa’s final two games of 2019, including the Derby della Lanterna against Sampdoria.

Maksimovic, meanwhile, has avoided a fine but won’t be available against Parma or Sassuolo after being sent off from the bench.

Rog: 'Cagliari never give up'

Marko Rog says Cagliari “never give up” after they came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Sassuolo.

Sassuolo looked to be in a comfortable position at half-time, but Cagliari eventually came away with a point and Rog revealed what changed at the break.

“We never stopped believing,” the midfielder told Tuttomercatoweb. “We suffered too much during the first half.

“At the break, in the dressing room, we said we would give our all to come back and we succeeded.”

Coppa: Rog rewards 10-man Cagliari

Marko Rog’s stunner was the stand-out as 10-man Cagliari pushed past Chievo 2-1 and will face Sampdoria or Crotone in the Coppa Italia Fourth Round.

The Sardinians used a star-studded XI at the Sardegna Arena for their first competitive match of the season against recently-relegated Chievo.

Joao Pedro put the hosts in front early doors, as Artur Ionita’s header bounced off the crossbar and into the path of Joao Pedro for the tap-in.

Maran: Nainggolan a beast!

Cagliari boss Rolando Maran admits he has been ‘left stunned’ by ‘beast’ and new vice-captain Radja Nainggolan.

Nainggolan returned to Cagliari from Inter as one of three players to bolster their midfield, alongside Marko Rog and Nahitan Nandez, after Nicolo Barella left for the Nerazzurri.

“We need to pass on our work ethic to the new players,” Maran told Gazzetta dello Sport.

Cagliari change Nandez terms?

Cagliari have reportedly changed the terms of their €18m deal with Boca Juniors for Nahitan Nandez and he still hasn’t travelled to Italy.

The midfielder said an emotional farewell to the Boca supporters after what was meant to be his final game this week, but he is continuing to train with his squad.

According to TyC Sports, this is because Cagliari have suddenly changed the terms of the agreement and want to renegotiate.

Giulini: 'Nandez should be in 48 hours'

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini denied talks for Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan, but he is losing patience with Boca Juniors for Nahitan Nandez.

Nicolò Barella was sold to Inter for €40m plus up to €10m in bonuses, with that cash reinvested in Marko Rog from Napoli and probably Boca’s Uruguay international Nandez too.

There have even been reports Nainggolan wants a return to Sardinia, where he really made his Serie A mark.

Two follow Rog to Cagliari?

After Marko Rog passed his medical, Cagliari are hoping to supplement his arrival with deals for Nahitan Nandez and Gregoire Defrel.

Rog underwent medical tests on Monday morning and will be confirmed as a Cagliari player imminently.

However, the Sardinians are not stopping there as Goal.com reports they want Defrel to partner Leonardo Pavoletti in attack.

Although Roma want €13m for the Frenchman, the website expects an agreement to be found as there is a good relationship between the two clubs.
