Nani: 'I taught Ronaldo a lot'

Former Lazio winger Luis Nani has claimed Cristiano Ronaldo “learned a lot from me”, as he picked two Serie A players in his five-a-side line-up of former teammates.

Nani played one season on loan at the Olimpico in 2017-18 and scored three goals in his 18 appearances for the Biancoceleste.

Ronaldo is an obvious choice when the current Orlando City star picks his best five-a-side consisting of former teammates, but he also makes space for Portuguese compatriot and Parma captain Bruno Alves.

Man United wanted Szczesny

Manchester United had asked Juventus for the availability of Wojciech Szczesny before David De Gea extended his contract, claim reports.

According to Sun Sport, Szczesny was suggested to the club by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer over the summer.

De Gea had been widely expected to leave, but instead put pen to paper on a new four-year deal in September.

As for the Poland international, his current contract with Juventus is due to expire in June 2021.

Jose Mourinho insists David de Gea ‘wants to stay’ at Manchester United, amidst speculation he could join Juventus.

Juve had seemingly overtaken Real Madrid as the likeliest next destination for De Gea, whose United contract has less than two years left to run.

Juventus eye up De Gea?

Juventus are linked with David De Gea, but it’s unlikely they’ll pay the £75m asking price when Manchester United can lose him for free in 2020.

The goalkeeper has repeatedly been associated with a move elsewhere, above all to Real Madrid, but their purchase of Thibaut Courtois seems to have scuppered that idea.

According to The Sun, “sources close to both” Juventus and Manchester United claim the Bianconeri are the favourites for De Gea.

'Juve want De Gea on a free'

A source has told The Times that Juventus are hoping to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea on a free transfer.

The renowned British newspaper claims United boss Jose Mourinho is ‘worried’ about losing De Gea to Juve, highlighting their ‘art of snapping up top talent for nothing’.

“De Gea played against his future club on Tuesday,” said the unnamed party.

“Juve are an expert in intelligent deals. If United don’t sell him in the summer, Juventus will wait until the end of his contract.”

Chelsea shot-stopped Thibaut Courtois is another option, but Mundo Deportivo reports that their top target is now Alisson.

The Spanish champions have sent observers to watch the Brazilian on several occasions, and they brought back glowing reports.

Much depends on David De Gea, as if he goes to Real Madrid, then Manchester United are putting their funds into bringing in the Brazilian as a replacement.

Buffon: ‘Donnarumma can replace me’

Gianluigi Buffon discusses his long career, and says Gigio Donnarumma has “extraordinary skills”.

The Juventus goalkeeper is considered one of the greatest of all time, and it’s likely he’ll retire after the World Cup in the summer when he’ll be 40, having made his debut at 17.

“I often think about that, it’s unusual to find a player who can link 40 years of football,” Buffon said in an interview with Copa90.
