Udinese are ready to play out the final 18 minutes of their rescheduled Serie A clash with Roma, a match that could decide the fate of relegation candidates Salernitana.

The two sides originally faced each other on April 14, when the match was called off in the 72nd minute after Giallorossi defender Evan Ndicka collapsed off the ball, forcing play to be stopped. He was rushed to hospital and tests later confirmed that he’d suffered a collapsed lung, avoiding cardiac issues.

The match, currently sat at 1-1, is of crucial importance to both Udinese and Roma; for the former, victory is key to help them gain some distance from the relegation zone, whilst the latter are in the thick of the fight for Champions League qualification, sitting just a point ahead of sixth place Atalanta.

Salernitana fate

As highlighted by TMW, Salernitana will be keeping a close eye on Roma’s clash with Udinese as their fate hangs in the balance. A win for the Friulian side would mathematically guarantee relegation for the Campania outfit, making them the first to officially drop down to Serie B for the 2024-25 season.

A draw or Roma victory would delay things a little for the Granata, but regardless an escape from the relegation zone seems unlikely at this stage of the season.
