Atlas sign Samp's Bergessio

Mexican club Atlas FC have signed former Sampdoria striker Gonzalo Bergessio, who leaves Serie A.

The 30-year-old had signed for the Blucerchiati in summer 2014 but failed to leave his mark, scoring 2 goals in 24 games.

On June 3 Sampdoria rescinded his contract, and the official site of Atlas just welcomed him with a statement.

“Atlas FC welcomes Gonzalo Ruben Bergessio to our institution, who joins the first team for the opening tournament of 2015.”

Tare: ‘Lazio had Rafinha, then…’

Lazio director Igli Tare reveals regrets over Barcelona's Rafinha, praises Ravel Morrison and plays down missing out on Gonzalo Bergessio.

The Albanian sporting director considered today the Aquile’s recent work in the January transfer window, which saw them secure Mauricio Dos Santos Nascimento on loan, and Wesley Hoedt and Ravel Morrison for the summer.

Whilst fans have again been critical of the club’s work in the market this winter, the former striker considers his biggest regret as coming last summer.

Lazio need consistency, not striker

The annual deadline day frustration at Lazio has disguised the more pressing issue of poor away form, argues Alasdair Mackenzie.

Any fan of Lazio will associate the final day of the January transfer window with feelings of anguish and despair by now, rather than excitement.

The last few years have seen Claudio Lotito and Igli Tare fail to complete deals that looked set in stone, often leaving the squad short-staffed in key areas. However, this year was different.

After Filip Djordjevic picked up an injury that will keep him out for three months in the win over Milan, a host of strikers suddenly became the subject of transfer rumours.

Ederson scuppers Bergessio move

Ederson has reportedly rejected a move to Sampdoria, terminating Lazio hopes of signing Gonzalo Bergessio.

“We are just missing the signature on the contract,” Bergessio’s agent Julio Tymczyszyn told reporters earlier this evening.

“Will he go to Lazio? Yes.”

However, the move was dependant on Ederson going the other way.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Ederson turned down the loan switch to Sampdoria and scuppered the whole affair.

Bergessio agent: 'Yes to Lazio'

Lazio are ready to sign Gonzalo Bergessio from Sampdoria, said his agent, possibly sending Ederson the other way.

The Blucerchiati had resisted the move for several weeks, but on deadline day are increasingly open to it, especially if Ederson (pictured) arrives as part of the deal.

“We are just missing the signature on the contract,” Bergessio’s agent Julio Tymczyszyn told reporters.

“Will he go to Lazio? Yes.”

‘Cagliari’s season starts now’

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini is happy with the ‘aggressive game’ played against Cesena, as he closes the club’s January transfer market for now.

Giulini, who picked up the Isolani’s ownership and presidency in the summer of last year, hopes that this will mean a new start for the Sardinian team.
