De Paul inspired by the Olimpico

Attacking midfielder Rodrigo de Paul has claimed Udinese wanted to give back to ‘the people working behind the scenes’ after the 2-0 win over Roma.

The 26-year-old assisted both Kevin Lasagna and Ilija Nestorovski in the Italian capital and helped the Friuli bounce back from two narrow defeats after the break.

“Against Atalanta, we lost because of [Luis] Muriel,” De Paul told Sky Sport Italia. “I told the lads that winning at the Olimpico is something that's missing.

Three Serie A players banned

Udinese’s Rodrigo de Paul, Verona’s Marco Faraoni and Parma’s Simone Iacoponi will all miss the next round of Serie A through suspension.

The disciplinary commission has given one-match bans to the trio after they accumulated five yellow cards for their respective clubs yesterday.

They join Fiorentina pair Federico Chiesa and Martin Caceres plus Juventus full-back Danilo in being forced to sit out the next game.

Pozzo: 'June 13 too early for Udinese games'

Udinese resumed group training today, but patron Giampaolo Pozzo continues to insist Serie A should not start as early as June 13.

A statement from the club confirmed all their players and staff tested negative for COVID-19, so by sticking to the medical protocol, they will begin contact training from this afternoon.

The plan is to start Serie A games from either June 13 or June 20, with Udinese one of those pushing for a delay.

Sevilla looking at De Paul

Sevilla are the latest club to be linked with Udinese and Argentina creative midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

According to Estadio Deportivo, Sevilla see him as an ideal heir to Ever Banega.

Joining Udinese for just €3m in 2016, he scored five goals with three assists in 24 competitive games for Udinese so far this season.

He has 17 senior caps for Argentina and has also been linked with Roma, Milan, Fiorentina, Inter and Lazio.

'Udinese won't give away stars'

Udinese boss Luca Gotti has warned that his club will not ‘give away’ its stars, even in the post-coronavirus transfer market.

Juan Musso and Rodrigo de Paul have both been tipped to leave Udinese in the near future, but Gotti made it clear there would be no discounts for the Argentine pair.

“These are two players who have attracted much of the market and we know Udinese are used to preparing players for bigger clubs,” he told Radio Sportiva.

Udinese: 'De Paul and Fofana out, Musso stays'

Udinese director Pierpaolo Marino confirms Rodrigo De Paul, Seko Fofana and Rolando Mandragora are likely to leave this summer, but not Juan Musso.

The club has struggled to stay out of the relegation zone over the past few seasons, which makes it more difficult to keep hold of their most talented players.

“We’ll have to completely revamp our midfield, that is for certain,” technical director Marino told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter join De Paul race

Inter, Milan, Roma and Fiorentina are among the Serie A clubs keeping a close eye on Udinese and Argentina midfielder Rodrigo De Paul.

The 25-year-old had already been linked with a move last summer, especially after earning regular playing time for Argentina at the Copa America.

However, he extended his contract with Udinese in October, so it now runs to June 2024.

Milan, Roma and Fiorentina were the first clubs to show genuine interest, although Tuttosport claim that now Inter have joined in.

De Paul: 'Focused on Udinese for now'

Udinese star Rodrigo De Paul says he’s “fine” at the club and that for now he’s focused “only on Udinese and the Argentina national team.”

De Paul has long been linked with a move away from Udinese, with the Milan duo particularly keen on the Argentine international.

“In Udine I’m fine. It’s true, in the last few transfer windows, and also in January, something had been in an advanced state, but then for different reasons nothing become concrete,” De Paul told broadcaster Tyc Sports.
