Calhanoglu: 'Gattuso gave me goosebumps'

Hakan Calhanoglu was full of praise for former Milan coach Gennaro Gattuso. ‘His pre-match speeches gave me goosebumps.’

The Turkish midfielder has clearly not forgotten his old tactician, even after he was dismissed and moved on to a new experience at Napoli.

“Gattuso is sincere and ambitious, but not the kind of aggressive or angry person that people expect. What he has is passion,” Calhanoglu told Turkish reporter Ertem Sener on Instagram Live.

Calhanoglu: 'Milan still have desire'

Hakan Calhanoglu assures he is now ‘less afraid’ of coronavirus and that Milan still ‘want to reach the Europa League and win the Coppa Italia’ this season.

Milan were seventh in Serie A and in the Coppa Italia semi-finals before the season halted to a stop, but clubs can resume team training from Monday ahead of the campaign possibly restarting next month.

“Now I’m less afraid, but I wasn’t even afraid when the Coronavirus first came about,” Calhanoglu told Sky Sport Italia.

Rangnick reassures Calhanoglu?

Ralf Rangnick has, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, reassured Hakan Calhanoglu that he would remain a protagonist at Milan under his leadership.

La Gazzetta dello Sport claims the German coach, who seems close to take over at San Siro this summer, wants to keep the former Bayer Leverkusen man at San Siro and has been in touch with the versatile Turkey international.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the Rossoneri expires in June 2021 and the former Bundesliga star has struggled to convince the club’s faithful at San Siro.

Hakan Calhanoglu is hoping to extend his contract with Milan, claims the Corriere dello Sport newspaper, just weeks after his departure seemed inevitable.

The 26-year-old Turkey international is tied down until June 2021, having joined from Bayer Leverkusen for €23m in the summer of 2017.

He had seemed destined for the exit, but rediscovered some form after a change of tactics under coach Stefano Pioli.

Calhanoglu has contributed five goals and one assist in 25 competitive games for the Rossoneri this season.

Milan don't like headers

Milan have only scored two headed goals this season, one of the worst records of any side in Serie A this season.

The two goals, scored by Hakan Calhanoglu against Brescia and Zlatan Ibrahimovic against Inter in the derby, represent the sum total of the Rossoneri’s goals via the head this term.

In fact, over the last four years, Milan sit 15th in the ranking of teams scoring with their heads, with only 23 goals from 139 games.
