Amateur hour at Milan

The latest Milan performance was disconcerting for Kaustubh Pandey, as even the basics seemed beyond them against a decimated Roma.

Milan’s fifth defeat in just nine rounds made clear the extent of the problems they are dealing with. Defeat at the Olimpico is understandable enough, but not when gifting two goals to a decimated and exhausted Roma side.

Responsibility is on Milan players

There were flashes of genuine improvement for Milan, even from their most-maligned players, but Vijay Rahaman ultimately saw the old problems emerge.

Stefano Pioli's birthday coincided with his first match in charge of Milan, but two of his former players had a nasty surprise in store when scoring in Lecce’s 2-2 draw.

Unfortunately, the same issues reared their head again for the Rossoneri, as the night started off well, but then they collapsed under even the tiniest pressure, so this is where the players’ mentality has to be questioned.

Pioli: 'Milan need clear ideas'

Stefano Pioli wants Milan to “prove we’ve got clear ideas” in his debut against Lecce, but is tight-lipped on whether he’s starting Krzysztof Piatek.

It kicks off on Sunday at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT), click here for a match preview.

Marco Giampaolo was sacked after losing four of the opening seven games, so ex-Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina boss Pioli makes his debut against newly-promoted Lecce.

Pioli has to keep it simple

With Marco Giampaolo overcomplicating things at Milan, Vilizar Yakimov thinks Stefano Pioli should do exactly the opposite to rediscover the Rossoneri’s form.

Seeing a club sacking a Coach after a victory is a sight that we don’t witness too often. In fact, Marco Giampaolo has the right to feel at least a bit unfortunate with the timing of his Milan dismissal, as the Rossoneri host Lecce next in a game that could’ve easily seen the ex-Sampdoria boss winning two in a row.

Milan stick or twist with Giampaolo?

Marco Giampaolo is already facing the Milan axe, but Emmet Gates doubts the alternatives like Luciano Spalletti and Stefano Pioli are any better.

As Franck Kessie casually placed the ball past Genoa goalkeeper Ionut Radu to give Milan the lead – and the win - last weekend, many believed this to be Marco Giampaolo’s saving grace. Judging from reports leading into the fixture, a defeat against Genoa would be Giampaolo’s last in charge of the Rossoneri.

Giampaolo: 'Milan showed character'

Marco Giampaolo thanked Milan for their “response in terms of character” to overturn Genoa 2-1, while Jack Bonaventura “brought balance.”

It was a do-or-die match for Giampaolo and he went to Plan B after going a goal down, introducing Rafael Leao and Lucas Paqueta, who completely changed the game in an eventual 2-1 win at Marassi.

“I liked Paqueta, he came on well, as did Leao, but I won’t condemn those who they replaced,” the Coach told DAZN.
