Juventus can tame Rabiot

The often fiery Frenchman joined Juventus on a free transfer and Vilizar Yakimov thinks Adrien Rabiot will be the missing piece of the midfield puzzle.

Adrien Rabiot might be only 24 years old, but it really seems that he has been around for a while. Standing at 188cm, the Frenchman possesses a colossus-like physique, which allowed him to start his professional career very early.

Prior to his move to Turin, Rabiot spent seven years at Paris Saint-Germain and registered 227 appearances for the French giants. The powerful midfielder made his senior debut for the club under Carlo Ancelotti in 2012 and has also represented his country at all levels starting from the U16’s.

Blaise Matuidi could be set for a reunion with Medhi Benatia as it is reported Qatari side Al-Duhail want the Juventus midfielder.

According to Foot 365, Matuidi was recently approached by Al-Duhail about a potential transfer.

The Qatar-based club signed Benatia from Juve in January but would need to free up a foreign-player spot before they can bring in the Frenchman.

The 32-year-old has been at the heart of successive Scudetti since joining the Old Lady from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

Matuidi and Khedira on way out

With Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey arriving as free agents, Juventus are expected to sell Sami Khedira and Blaise Matuidi.

The Bianconeri have already secured Ramsey from Arsenal, while Rabiot should be announced tomorrow after his PSG contract expired.

According to Tuttosport, this means the exit of two veteran midfielders who do not suit new Coach Maurizio Sarri’s style of football.

Khedira could well be released from his contract early, allowing him to negotiate his next move by himself, most likely towards MLS.

Fiorentina lose Montella

Fiorentina will be without Vincenzo Montella for their Serie A decider against Genoa after he was given a two-match ban.

The FIGC ruled on Tuesday that Montella addressed officials with a ‘threatening and intimidating’ attitude, using ‘insulting expressions’ three times and ‘violently punching an advertising board’ as he was sent off during Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Parma on Sunday, which caused slight injury to a steward.

Old Lady needs rejuvenating

Juventus have put all their focus on to Cristiano Ronaldo, neglecting the weak defence and midfield, argues Emmet Gates.

We’re fast approaching a quarter-century since Juventus last won the Champions League. The latest failure coming from a young, bold and at times a simply irrepressible Ajax side that thoroughly dominated The Old Lady over two legs. To put the wait into some sort of perspective, when Gianluca Vialli hoisted ‘Ol Big Ears high into the Roman sky in May 1996, five of the Ajax starting XI from the second leg weren’t even born.
