Matuidi: ‘Juventus will win Scudetto’

Blaise Matuidi expects Napoli to “stay with us to the end” to win the Scudetto but “I’m sure in the end Juventus will win”.

The midfielder joined the Bianconeri from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer, and he was asked today if the Partenopei’s great start had surprised him.

“I’m not surprised to see Napoli so high up,” Matuidi told Sky.

“They’re getting better and better. They’ve been playing together for some time, and they’ll stay with us until the end.

Andre Silva shines for Portugal

Milan striker Andre Silva scored a goal and provided an assist for Portugal today, so now has 11 in 16 senior caps.

The 21-year-old hitman was the star of the show as Portugal earned a 2-0 victory away to Andorra.

The deadlock wasn’t broken until Cristiano Ronaldo came off the bench in the second half and met an Andre Silva assist.

Silva then added a second goal himself in the final stages, taking his career total to a hugely impressive 11 goals in 16 senior caps.

Kante at risk for Chelsea-Roma

Chelsea could be without N’Golo Kante for the Champions League against Roma after he limped off on international duty with France.

The two teams go head-to-head at Stamford Bridge on October 18, then meet again at the Stadio Olimpico on October 31.

However, Kante is now a major doubt to feature in either of those matches.

The former Leicester City enforcer suddenly pulled up clutching the back of his left leg in what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

Matuidi: ‘I have the quality’

Juventus’ Blaise Matuidi believes the fact he has played for both the Old Lady and Paris Saint-Germain says a lot about his quality.

The midfielder moved from the French capital to Turin during the summer’s transfer window.

And speaking after joining Didier Deschamps’ squad on international duty, the 30-year-old hit back at critics in his homeland who have previously questioned his ability.

“I feel really good,” Matuidi told reporters. “I have arrived at a big club, with history and ambition.

Matuidi in France squad

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has been named in the France squad to face Bulgaria and Belarus.

Les Bleus lead Sweden by a point at the top of Group A, so need to win both matches to be sure of qualifying directly for next summer’s World Cup.

Coach Didier Deschamps has named just one Serie A player in his squad, in the form of Bianconeri midfielder Matuidi.

Former Roma left-back Lucas Digne is also included, but Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is ruled out through injury.
