Marotta: 'Bonucci wanted Milan'

Juventus director Beppe Marotta said keeping Leonardo Bonucci “against his will would’ve been counter-productive” after the Milan transfer.

The shock move developed very quickly for €42m after seven years in Turin.

“With Bonucci we accepted his personal and professional desire, which was to join Milan. There was the feeling he could go. It was not about incidents so much as motivation that was lacking.

“We have found that keeping players against their will is counter-productive,” Marotta told Sky Sport Italia.

Juve revive Matuidi talks

Juventus are reviving their bid to sign Blaise Matuidi from Paris Saint-Germain after running into problems for Nemanja Matic and Emre Can.

Max Allegri wants a big midfield reinforcement this summer and Matuidi was the first on the list a couple of months ago.

The Bianconeri turned elsewhere due to the €40m price-tag, but Sky Sport Italia report today that they’ve gone back to the 30-year-old France international.

This is because Liverpool are not prepared to release Emre Can, while Chelsea man Matic seems closer to Manchester United.

The Bianconeri were on the verge of signing the midfielder last summer, but the Ligue 1 club pulled the plug at the last minute.

It has been suggested that the Old Lady could return for the French international, who has refused to confirm he’ll stay at Parc des Princes.

According to Tuttosport, Juve representatives are travelling to Paris, where they will try to thrash out a deal for Matuidi.

However, the newspaper warns the Bianconeri will not go beyond €15m for the 30-year-old.

Report: PSG blocked Augustin to Juve

Paris Saint-Germain allegedly continued their feud with Juventus by blocking Jean-Kevin Augustin’s transfer, sending him to RB Leipzig instead.

The French club never forgave Juve for poaching their youth team player Kingsley Coman as a free agent and they’ve resisted doing business together ever since.

According to Calciomercato.com, the Bianconeri had agreed terms with Augustin and offered the same amount as RB Leipzig – specifically €10m plus bonuses.
