Matuidi 'hadn't realised' coronavirus threat

Just one day before he tested positive for coronavirus, Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi recorded a video message about how he “didn’t really get a handle on how bad this disease was.”

The highly-contagious illness has now struck 11 Serie A players, the first of which was Matuidi’s Juve teammate Daniele Rugani.

This evening, the Bianconeri announced that Matuidi had also tested positive for Coronavirus-COVID-19.

Juventus: Matuidi has coronavirus

Juventus have announced that Blaise Matuidi is their second player to test positive for coronavirus after Daniele Rugani.

“Blaise Matuidi has undergone medical tests that have revealed his positivity to the Coronavirus-COVID-19,” read a statement.

“The player, as of Wednesday 11 March, has been in voluntary home isolation. He will continue to be monitored and will follow the same regime. He is well and is asymptomatic.”

Matuidi turns 33 next month and only recently extended his contract with Juventus until June 2021.

Bonucci: 'Juventus not switched on'

Matuidi: 'I was never in doubt'

Blaise Matuidi has revealed that he thought about his family when he extended with Juventus and admitted he has had his “ups and downs” this term.

The Bianconeri triggered an option in the 32-year-old’s previous deal and he has revealed that he was “never in doubt” about his future with the Old Lady.

“I’m very happy to continue for another season here,” he told Le Figaro. “I feel the trust from everyone, and I was never in doubt.

Matuidi could still leave Juventus

Juventus decided to extend Blaise Matuidi’s contract until June 2021, but the France international could still leave the Allianz Stadium this summer.

The Corriere dello Sport claims that the Old Lady triggered an option in his current deal to make sure the 32-year-old doesn’t leave for free this summer.

His current deal is set to expire this summer but the Bianconeri has an option to automatically renew his contract until June 2021.

Matuidi: 'Juve extended my contract'

Blaise Matuidi has announced that Juventus decided to trigger the option to extend his contract with another year at the Allianz Stadium.

The World Cup winner’s contract with the Old Lady was set to expire after this year, but now the 32-year-old has revealed that he will stay in Turin for another season.

“In my contract there was an option for another year,” he told Sport24. “Juventus have exercised it. I never had any doubts about it. I feel the trust of everyone."

Aulas wants Aouar to play for Juventus

President Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed contact between Olympique Lyonnais and Juventus about Houssem Aouar, “I would like to see him at Juve”.

Cagliari issue lifetime bans

Cagliari have identified and imposed lifetime bans on three supporters who were deemed guilty of shouting racist abuse during home games.

The Sardinians have been at the centre of attention in recent seasons pertaining to racist abuse suffered by opposing players by certain sections of the Cagliari support.

Blaise Matuidi, Moise Kean and Romelu Lukaku have all been subjected to racist taunts during trips to Cagliari.

The club had been slow to react to the issue.

However the club have now finally taken measures.

Juve to extend with Matuidi?

Blaise Matuidi looks set to remain at Juventus and extend his expiring contract until June 2021, according to Tuttosport.

The 32-year-old’s current deal expires this summer and the Old Lady will allegedly be thorough in their study of his data, to consider all aspects before a renewal.

Tuttosport claims that the Bianconeri have already started the contract negotiation with the French midfielder and Fabio Paratici has been in touch with the former Paris Saint-Germain man’s representatives.
