Fiorentina lose Montella

Fiorentina will be without Vincenzo Montella for their Serie A decider against Genoa after he was given a two-match ban.

The FIGC ruled on Tuesday that Montella addressed officials with a ‘threatening and intimidating’ attitude, using ‘insulting expressions’ three times and ‘violently punching an advertising board’ as he was sent off during Fiorentina’s 1-0 defeat to Parma on Sunday, which caused slight injury to a steward.

Matuidi: Hope Allegri stays

Blaise Matuidi says he ‘hopes’ Max Allegri will remain Juventus’ Coach and that ‘I’m staying 100 percent’.

Allegri’s future is set to be decided at a meeting with Juve President Andrea Agnelli on Wednesday, while Matuidi’s contract has only a year left to run.

“We had a good first half against Roma and needed to score,” the Frenchman told La Stampa.

“Allegri’s done a great job here and I hope he stays: he’s shown great quality and he’s a great Coach.

Old Lady needs rejuvenating

Juventus have put all their focus on to Cristiano Ronaldo, neglecting the weak defence and midfield, argues Emmet Gates.

We’re fast approaching a quarter-century since Juventus last won the Champions League. The latest failure coming from a young, bold and at times a simply irrepressible Ajax side that thoroughly dominated The Old Lady over two legs. To put the wait into some sort of perspective, when Gianluca Vialli hoisted ‘Ol Big Ears high into the Roman sky in May 1996, five of the Ajax starting XI from the second leg weren’t even born.

Juve: Matuidi plays down injury

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has insisted that he will be ‘fine’ for next week’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Ajax.

Matuidi’s calf pulled up in the latter stages of Juve’s 1-1 draw at Ajax on Wednesday, fuelling fears of a layoff for the Frenchman.

However, he told Sky Sport Italia after the game: “I’ll be fine, rest assured.”

The 32-year-old may not be risked for Saturday’s Serie A trip to SPAL in the meantime.

Matuidi: 'We must fight racism'

Blaise Matuidi said Juventus and everyone in football must “not be afraid to stand up and fight” racists, assuring Moise Kean was abused even before his goal in Cagliari.

The tension spilled over at the Sardegna Arena on Tuesday after Kean’s goal, when he stood with arms open in front of the ultras.

Teammate Leonardo Bonucci drew criticism for saying the celebration meant Kean had to shoulder “50-50” blame for the crowd reaction, but Matuidi assures the racist insults were clear even before that.

Raiola: Can't be Italian & racist

Mino Raiola has affirmed that ‘you can’t be Italian and racist at the same time’ after his client Moise Kean suffered racial abuse.

Kean was subjected to discriminatory chanting throughout Juve’s 2-0 win at Cagliari on Tuesday, a year after teammate Blaise Matuidi - another of Raiola’s clientele – was targeted by Rossoblu fans on the grounds of his skin colour.

Kean: 'Best response to racism'

Juventus and Italy star Moise Kean confirms his goal celebration against Cagliari was “the best way to respond to racism.”

The 19-year-old had already been insulted throughout the 2-0 Bianconeri victory at the Sardegna Arena on Tuesday evening.

When he scored at the 85th minute, he stood arms outstretched in front of the ultras behind the net, sparking even more furious and openly racist abuse from the stands.

Miralem Pjanic feels “there is no place in football” for racism after Juventus teammates Moise Kean and Blaise Matuidi were insulted by Cagliari fans.

Bonucci: 'Kean blame for racist abuse'

Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci claimed Moise Kean had to shoulder “50-50 blame” for racist abuse from Cagliari fans.

The striker scored in the final minutes at the Sardegna Arena and his celebration saw him stand in front of the ultras behind the goal, hands outstretched, almost challenging those who had jeered him.

That prompted even louder and far clearer racist abuse, which before that had been from only a handful of fans.
