Official: Crotone sign Benfica's Pereira

Crotone have officially signed Benfica right-back Pedro Pereira, on loan with option to buy at the end of the season.

The 22-year-old put pen to paper today following a medical.

It is a return to Serie A for Pereira, who already wore the Sampdoria jersey from 2015 to January 2017, then played for Genoa from January 2018 to June 2019.

He was on loan at Bristol City last season.

Crotone earned promotion into the top flight by finishing second in Serie B during the 2019-20 campaign.

Monaco fight Milan for Florentino

Milan and Fulham have new competition for Benfica talent Florentino Luis, with reports Monaco are offering €30m.

The 21-year-old midfielder has long been on the radar of these two clubs, but negotiations so far failed to find a breakthrough.

Their proposals have been a loan with option to buy for circa €21-25m.

According to Sportitalia, AS Monaco have now dived in with an offer to take Florentino on loan with option to buy for €30m.

Bakayoko falls, Florentino rises for Milan

Milan have reportedly stalled in their talks with Chelsea for Timeoue Bakayoko, so they are focusing more on Benfica’s Florentino.

Negotiations dragged on for weeks with relatively little progress, and with Sandro Tonali arriving from Brescia on loan for €10m with option to buy for a further €15m plus €10m in bonuses, he is no longer a priority.

In fact, the excellent deal they struck with Brescia for Tonali made Chelsea’s asking price for Bakayoko seem exaggerated.

Maldini: 'Bakayoko and Florentino? Off base'

Milan director Paolo Maldini said reporters were ‘a little off base’ talking about Tiemoue Bakayoko and Florentino Luis.

The club legend met with Florentino’s agent this evening, after reports negotiations with Chelsea for Bakayoko had stalled due to the €32m asking price.

It is believed the Rossoneri are turning to 21-year-old Benfica talent Florentino instead, who has been linked with Fulham.

“Bakayoko and Florentino? You are a little off base, but we’ll see,” Maldini told Sportitalia.

Fulham for ex-Milan target Florentino

Former Milan target Florentino Luis could join Fulham next week, on loan with option to buy from Benfica.

According to Calciomercato.com Milan correspondent Daniele Longo, the negotiations are at an advanced stage and could be finalised within days.

The Rossoneri will be given the opportunity to make a counter-offer of their own, but seem to have moved on to other priorities such as Sandro Tonali.

A Bola in Portugal claimed a proposal to take Florentino on loan for €1m along with an option to buy for €18m had been rejected as too low.

Villarreal or Benfica for Fazio

Roma defender Federico Fazio has two offers from abroad, as Villarreal and Benfica are believed to be interested.

Fazio dropped down the pecking order under coach Paulo Fonseca over the last few months, especially following the switch to three at the back.

The Argentina international is on the market and seems to be heading abroad.

According to Tuttomercatoweb and A Bola, there is interest in Fazio from both Villarreal and Benfica.

At Villarreal, he’d reunite with former Sevilla coach Unai Emery.

Agent: 'Why Vertonghen chose Benfica'

Jan Vertonghen’s agent confirms he had talks with ‘Roma, Inter and above all Napoli,’ but chose Benfica because they offered a three-year contract.

The former Tottenham Hotspur defender was a free agent this summer and for many months was linked with a move to Serie A, only to join the Portuguese giants instead.

“Benfica were not his first choice at the start of this process,” confessed agent Tom De Mul to Sporza.
