‘Sarri wanted to dismantle Napoli’

Aurelio De Laurentis has claimed that new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri ‘wanted to dismantle’ the Napoli squad.

De Laurentiis regularly took digs at Sarri throughout his three-year spell with Napoli, despite the 59-year-old leading the Partenopei to as many top-three finishes, and the Coach drew the ire of his former President once more with his recent remarks.

Napoli’s new-look Hamsik

As Carlo Ancelotti prepares to reinvent Marek Hamsik as Napoli’s deep-lying playmaker, Emmet Gates looks at the Slovak’s suitability to the role.

As summer descends over the Bay of Naples, the city feels a fair sense of serenity with Carlo Ancelotti on board. Despite the loss of midfield fulcrum Jorginho to Chelsea, there’s a belief that the good times under Maurizio Sarri will continue. One of the consequences of the Jorginho move, and indeed one of the more interesting facets of the new Ancelotti era, is the deployment of Marek Hamsik as the Italy international’s replacement.

Napoli turn to Storari?

Napoli are reportedly considering former Milan veteran Marco Storari as their third-choice goalkeeper.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Napoli are in the market for a goalkeeper to supplement Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis.

Their search would have taken them to Storari, who is a free agent after leaving Milan upon the expiry of his contract.

The 41-year-old made only two appearances for the Rossoneri last season but is vastly experienced at the top level, previously playing for the likes of Fiorentina, Cagliari and Juventus.

Consequently, the former Napoli Coach has arranged for ‘shipments of cheese, beef and even coffee’ to be sent over from Italy.
