Siena delay Destro rumours

Siena have rubbished claims that Mattia Destro is set to depart in the January transfer window but implied a summer move may be on the cards.

Destro has started the season in good form and after a highly-influential performance during Siena’s 4-0 win over Lazio in Week 17, has been linked with a number of clubs, including Inter and Juventus.

However, sporting director Giorgio Perinetti has dismissed such rumours, suggesting a move is not on the cards this winter even if the player wanted it.

Genoa have lost striker Mattia Destro for at least three weeks after he was diagnosed with a thigh strain.

The young hitman limped off during the opening minutes of Sunday's 1-1 draw with Milan.

Tests today confirmed a second degree thigh strain to the right leg and will begin rehabilitation treatment on Monday.

Destro is expected to be out of action for at least three weeks.

There was some good news from the Genoa treatment room, as Luca Antonelli is almost ready for his Serie A debut with the club.
