Gilardino to face Milan?

Alberto Gilardino could make his first start for Fiorentina when they welcome Milan to Artemio Franchi tonight.

The striker re-joined the Viola in January, after a brief sojourn in the Chinese Superleague with Guangzhou Evergrande.

Both Calciomercato and Corriere dello Sport expect Gilardino to start against his former club tonight, in a match which could be crucial for Rossoneri Coach Filippo Inzaghi’s future.

Milan’s malaise

Milan appear to be going in a different direction as Filippo Inzaghi’s future becomes more and more uncertain, writes Sam Lewis.

Milanello has once again enveloped into ground hog day. While under-fire coach FIlippo Inzaghi decides whether to play Alessio Cerci or Keisuke Honda, 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 it appears that Adriano Galliani and Silvio Berlusconi are deciding whether to sack the former striker now or at the end of the week.

Inzaghi explains Milan choices

Pippo Inzaghi explained his surprising Milan picks in the 2-2 draw with Verona, but rejected a “trial by media.”

Many of his decisions will cause controversy, including Giampaolo Pazzini rather than Mattia Destro, putting on a fifth defender at home and sitting deeper and deeper until Verona scored the equaliser.

Inzaghi now has 35 points in 26 rounds, whereas last season Clarence Seedorf took just 19 games to achieve that figure.

Inzaghi: ‘At Chievo to win’

Milan Coach Filippo Inzaghi says his side are at Chievo to win tomorrow night, and defends Mattia Destro.

The Rossoneri are currently ninth in Serie A, but picked up only their second win of 2015 last weekend against Cesena, and the tactician wants to see his side build on that.

“We saw a little bit on Sunday,” Inzaghi told reporters in his pre-match Press conference.

Destro: 'I had to leave Roma'

Milan's Mattia Destro says he had no choice but to leave Roma, as his former side struggles in his absence.

The striker joined the Rossoneri in January, and the Lupi have struggled in recent weeks, falling nine points behind Juventus on Sunday after a draw at Verona.

“I don't know if Roma regret selling me,” the poacher declared today in a promotional even for Gillette.

“In any case I'm with Milan now and all I care about is doing well with them.

“I'll give my all so I can contribute to this club.

Destro: 'I'm still adapting'

Striker Mattia Destro says he is 'still adapting' to Milan's gameplay, but he's never lost faith in his abilities.

The 23-year-old has notched one goal in three matches since his transfer to the Rossoneri in January, but admits he is only in the opening phase.

“I haven't been here long and I still have to adapt to the gameplay of this team”, he said, in a promotional event for the Gillette razor brand.

“But we're doing some good work in training and we're really motivated to win every Sunday.

Bonaventura provides breathing room

Giacomo Bonaventura’s strike and Giampaolo Pazzini’s penalty gave Filippo Inzaghi a little bit of breathing room, writes Sam Lewis.

With rumours flying around about his future, Filippo Inzaghi must have been relieved to be able to simply do his job as Milan lined up against Cesena looking to pick up their second win of 2015. He must have been even more relieved when Bonaventura’s low finish rattled past Nicola Leali to give the Rossoneri a lead. The full-time whistle following Pazzini’s penalty probably had the former striker walking on air.

“We’re happy, but we’ve done nothing yet,” a determined Inzaghi told Press following the game.

Sabatini: 'Roma not working'

Roma director Walter Sabatini ignored Scudetto questions and discussed why Mattia Destro left for Milan.

He spoke to Sky Sport Italia after today’s 1-1 draw at Hellas Verona, which left them nine points adrift of leaders Juventus.

The top two go head-to-head next Monday, so will it be the first match point for Juventus?

“I think so, but let’s steer well clear of this issue for the moment, as we only approached it during a moment of happiness and good humour.
