Cagliari: Barella could stay, but...

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini insists Nicolo Barella could stay at the club but admits ‘it’s not right to hold on to him if he wanted to leave.’

Barella is being heavily tipped to move on from Cagliari this summer after a season that saw him establish himself in Italy’s midfield, and Giulini was asked about the future of his prized asset.

“This is my first season at Cagliari that we’ll end with our budget in the red,” he told Nuova Sardegna.

Maran expecting Torino 'battle'

Cagliari Coach Rolando Maran expects a “physical battle” against Torino in the lunchtime Serie A game.

Arsenal 'scout Barella again'

Arsenal will reportedly scout Cagliari and Italy midfielder Nicolo Barella again this evening.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira, Arsenal are ‘interested’ in Barella, who ‘appreciates’ their regular scouting missions.

The Gunners have already watched the 22-year-old in action twice this season, and Schira claims they will attend Cagliari’s match against Juventus on Tuesday.

Giulini: 'Unrealistic to keep Barella'

Cagliari President Tommaso Giulini discussed the new stadium project, but confessed it’s “unrealistic” to keep Nicolò Barella from moving on.

The Sardinians earned a 3-0 victory at Chievo on Friday evening, the first Serie A win on their travels since September 2, ending a run of five consecutive away defeats.

“In my five years at this club, this is the first time we’ve won at the Bentegodi,” Giulini told Sky Sport Italia.

Di Biagio: 'Italy project paying off'

Italy Under-21 Coach Gigi Di Biagio insists the influx of young talent like Moise Kean and Nicolò Barella “came from the project we started eight years ago.”

The senior Azzurri beat Finland 2-0 in their opening Euro 2020 qualifying match on Saturday evening thanks to goals from 22-year-old Barella and 19-year-old Kean.

“Those goals make us very proud,” said Azzurrini Coach Di Biagio.

Arsenal scouts watch Barella score

Arsenal reportedly sent scouts to watch Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella as he scored his debut Italy goal, but the price-tag is over €50m.

The 22-year-old was on target in the 2-0 victory over Finland on Saturday evening, which opened their Euro 2020 qualifying campaign.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal had scouts in the stands of the Dacia Arena in Udine specifically to view Barella.

Barella relishing Italy 'freedom'

Nicolò Barella is relishing his “freedom” to roam in the Italy midfield and broke his Azzurri duck in the 2-0 win over Finland.
