Arsenal join Barella race

Arsenal are also now in the race for Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella and not put off by the €50m asking price.

The 21-year-old made his senior Italy debut last week and impressed in both a 1-1 draw with Ukraine and 1-0 Nations League victory in Poland.

He has already been heavily linked with the likes of Milan, Inter, Juventus, Roma, Napoli, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Now Arsenal are in the mix too and not scared by his €50m price-tag.

Barella: 'Never hold back a tackle'

Cagliari midfielder Nicolò Barella is “proud” to be of interest to so many top clubs after his senior Italy debut. “I never hold back in a tackle.”

The 21-year-old was one of the most impressive players in the 1-1 friendly draw with Ukraine and 1-0 Nations League victory in Poland.

“If I reached the Nazionale, it is down to my teammates who allowed me to give my best. I want to thank all of them, both those at Cagliari and on international duty,” Barella told Sky Sport Italia.

Barella’s stock has skyrocketed after his performances in Italy’s midfield during the international break, adding to reported interest from the likes of Inter, Milan and Liverpool.

Fabio Capello says Cagliari and Italy starlet Nicolo Barella reminds him of 1982 World Cup winner Marco Tardelli for his ‘dynamism’.
