Luis Alberto: 'Lazio until 2025'

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto has confirmed that he will extend his contract until 2025 after a season that he regards as ‘the best of my career’.

Luis Alberto has played a key role in Lazio’s Scudetto charge, providing 13 assists in 25 Serie A appearances.

Despite talk of a return to Sevilla, the 27-year-old says he is ready to commit his future to the Aquile.

“We’re negotiating and I believe I’ll renew until 2025,” he revealed on Instagram.

Luis Alberto: 'Play for all employees'

Lazio midfielder Luis Alberto said they are eager to get back to playing, not just for the sport, but also for ‘so many other employees who depend on football.’

The season has been shut down since March 10 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but they should be allowed to resume training from Monday, albeit with social distancing guidelines.

Agent: 'Luis Alberto in sync with Lazio'

Luis Alberto’s agent confirmed the Spain international is very close to agreeing a new contract extension at Lazio. “He has become a complete player here.”

The 27-year-old made the move from Liverpool for €4m in 2016 and is under contract until 2022, but is going from strength to strength with the Biancocelesti.

“I think he has become a complete player at Lazio,” agent Alvaro Torres of You First Sports told Calciomercato.it.

Lazio star Luis Alberto jokes teammate Ciro Immobile “owes me an expensive present, maybe a Rolex” after his many assists and pinpoints when the Scudetto race came alive.

The Spain international has provided 13 Serie A assists and one in the Europa League this season, more than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.

“Immobile owes me a present, an expensive one. Maybe a Rolex!” joked Luis Alberto on Lazio Style Radio.

Luis Alberto: 'Lazio my best decision'

Luis Alberto admits “joining Lazio was the best decision of my life” and the club represents his “future” with a new contract imminent.

The midfielder is reportedly ready to sign a new contract at the Stadio Olimpico, despite interest from Sevilla and other Spanish clubs.

“I wasn’t mature enough at Sevilla and made the step up in quality quite late in the day,” Luis Alberto said in an Instagram interview.

Luis Alberto shrugs off Sevilla interest

Luis Alberto’s agent confirmed “interest from Sevilla” over the last few months, but the midfielder is “concentrated only on a renewal” with Lazio.

The 27-year-old is having the form of his life at the Olimpico with five goals and 14 assists in 30 competitive games this season.

It earned him a recall for Spain and repeated links with a return to La Liga for Sevilla, where he started his career.

“Luis Alberto is among the best players in Serie A,” agent Alvaro Torres told Estadio Deportivo.

Lazio to double Luis Alberto salary

Lazio ready to tie down Luis Alberto

Lazio are reportedly trying to tie down Luis Alberto to a new deal until June 2025, to fend off any possible suitors for the Spanish playmaker.

The Biancocelesti are currently top of Serie A and Luis Alberto has been one of the most prominent players in 2019-20, leading to speculation about his future at the Olimpico.

But the Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolò Schira has reported that the league leaders are currently working on a renewal, having offered the Spain international a new deal until 2025.

Lazio beat Bologna to lead Serie A

Luis Alberto scored one goal and created another for Joaquin Correa, as Bologna had two goals disallowed, so Lazio go top of the Serie A table awaiting Juventus.
