Ancelotti calls Di Maria

Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants to bring Paris Saint-Germain's Angel Di Maria to Napoli, but his €10m per season wages would be a problem.

The Partenopei are looking to finally overhaul Juventus and win the Scudetto this season, and links to the Argentine winger first arrived yesterday.

Now Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Carlo Ancelotti has called Di Maria, as he wants to bring him to Naples.

The pair worked together at Real Madrid, a period in which the 30-year-old played arguably the best football of his career.

Sarri a real departure for Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is Italian like Antonio Conte, but Chelsea fans will learn the similarities largely end there, writes Nick Valerio.

Averaging a trophy a year in his time in charge, Antonio Conte was the latest in a long line of high-profile Coaches to receive his marching orders from the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

Successor Maurizio Sarri, who has finally taken his place in the dugout after his will-he-won’t-he saga, will be charged with bringing a sense of stability to a pre-season that has descended in to chaos.

Stoke City snubbed for Chiriches

Stoke City offered €15m for Romania international Vlad Chiriches, it’s reported, but Napoli rejected it outright.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a proposal arrived this week for the 28-year-old defender.

It’d be a return to England, as he played for Tottenham Hotspur from 2013 to 2015, when he made a €7m move to Napoli.

Carlo Ancelotti is eager to keep hold of Chiriches, who is a centre-back and can also play at right-back.

He only extended his contract in March and is tied to the Stadio San Paolo until June 2022.

Rugani yes, Higuain maybe

Daniele Rugani’s move to Chelsea for €50m is imminent, but Juventus teammate Gonzalo Higuain is keeping his options open for Milan.

Insigne: ‘Napoli the anti-Juventus’

Lorenzo Insigne believes Napoli will be Juventus’ main challengers this season as “Carlo Ancelotti is our best signing”.

The Partenopei got 91 points last season, but even that wasn’t enough to stop the Bianconeri, who have now signed Cristiano Ronaldo.

“We carry it with us, along with the desire to do better, Insigne told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Beyond the controversy, we need to improve the way we manage the difficult moments of the season. That means the team, the club and the fans - all of us together.
