Napoli sign San Paolo agreement

Napoli have signed the five-year contract – with an option to extend for another five years – to use the Stadio San Paolo after months of negotiations.

As with most sporting venues in Italy, the stadium is owned by the local council and rented by the club for match days.

“SSC Napoli and the Municipality of Naples signed a five-year agreement for the use of the Stadio San Paolo on Thursday,” read a statement.

ADL: Callejon, Mertens, Koulibaly...

Aurelio De Laurentiis warns Jose Callejon and Dries Mertens will be ‘sellouts’ if they leave Napoli for China and admits “I’ll sell Kalidou Koulibaly” one day.

Callejon and Mertens have been heavily linked with moves to China, given their Napoli contracts expire at the end of the season, and De Laurentiis made it clear he was not a fan of their potential destination.

“I’m absolutely not prepared to make a major effort for them,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

Serie A trio in for Edouard?

Roma, Lazio and Napoli are reportedly all interested in signing Celtic and France Under-21 striker Odsonne Edouard.

Edouard is a 21-year-old in form after scoring nine goals and providing five assists for Celtic so far this season.

He netted a hat-trick for France U21s against Slovakia on Tuesday, taking his tally at youth level to 38 goals in just 33 caps.

According to The Daily Record in Scotland, Roma, Lazio and Napoli all scouted the hitman in Slovakia, as did Borussia Dortmund and Olympique Lyonnais.

If only Napoli had Icardi

Napoli’s struggle to break down defensive teams just intensifies the regret at missing out on Mauro Icardi, writes Emmet Gates.

Whilst not in full-blown crisis mode, there are murmurs of discontent surrounding Napoli at present. Failing to find the back of the net in three of their last four games has not gone unnoticed. To make matters worse, all of those fixtures were eminently winnable. Cagliari, Genk and Torino are all teams Carlo Ancelotti’s men should be brushing aside if they are to have serious aspirations of winning something this season.

It’s reported they met with Ancelotti and director of sport Cristiano Giuntoli, but President Aurelio De Laurentiis was absent.

Agent pushing Hysaj to Roma

“We still like Roma and it is in Napoli’s interests to negotiate a transfer in January,” said Elseid Hysaj’s agent, warning he's approaching the end of his contract.

The Albania international full-back had already been close to a move over the summer and talk has sparked up again following Davide Zappacosta’s serious knee injury.

“There had been discussions in the summer with Roma, then we stopped when the season began, but we still like them as a destination,” agent Mario Giuffredi told Radio Marte.

'Napoli tired of finishing second'

Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam has admitted that his club are tired of finishing second in Serie A. “We’re not happy about it.”

Napoli came runners-up to Juventus in three of the last four seasons, and Ghoulam is desperate for them to shed their reputation of ‘nearly men’.

“We’ve been criticised a lot, but we’re on our way more united than ever,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss.

“Everyone wants to beat Napoli and we must be proud to represent this city. The fans must have only a little patience.
