Nandez agrees with Cagliari

Cagliari are reportedly close to announcing a new deal for Nahitan Nandez, after having agreed to keep a €36m release clause in the contract.

The Uruguayan midfielder confirmed earlier this year that he would extend with the Rossoblu, who were trying to remove the release clause in his deal.

Sky Sport Italia journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed the two parties have now reached an agreement on his personal terms and the new deal will still carry a release clause.

Former Italy forward Luca Toni was disappointed with Juventus talisman Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance against Napoli: “He can’t even dribble.”

The former Capocannoniere watched as Ronaldo lost back-to-back Finals for the first time in his career and claimed he was part of the problem for Maurizio Sarri’s men in Rome.

Napoli celebrate sixth Coppa Italia title

Napoli won their sixth Coppa Italia trophy, matching Fiorentina in fifth place in the all-time charts, in the first penalty shoot-out Final since 2009.

The game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes against Juventus and, as per the format change, extra time was scrapped for the two teams to go direct to penalties.

The Coppa Italia hadn’t been decided from the spot since 2009, when Lazio got the better of Sampdoria in a shoot-out.

Historic Ronaldo double defeat

This is the first time in Cristiano Ronaldo’s career that he has lost two consecutive Cup Finals at club level, as Juventus failed at both the Supercoppa and the Coppa Italia.

The Bianconeri were beaten 3-1 by Lazio in December in Riyadh, with Paulo Dybala’s goal wiped out by Luis Alberto, Senad Lulic and Danilo Cataldi.

Sarri: 'Juve individuals not taking men on'

Maurizio Sarri maintains Juventus do not have tactical problems after the Coppa Italia defeat to Napoli, but rather ‘we lack the sharpness’ for individual skills to make the difference.

The Bianconeri again seemed sluggish and inconsistent, failing to find the net after a 0-0 semi-final draw with 10-man Milan, as only Gigi Buffon heroics prevented the Partenopei from winning in regular time.

Credit to coach Rino Gattuso

Napoli ultimately deserved the Coppa Italia, writes Giancarlo Rinaldi, as Gennaro Gattuso has given them an identity where Maurizio Sarri still has not for Juventus.

There was not a lot of social-distancing at the full-time whistle, but we will forgive them for that. At the end of a unique Coppa Italia Final, the Napoli players were surely allowed to let their emotions get the better of them. And only the hardest heart could have begrudged Rino Gattuso this victory so soon after the tragic death of his sister. Some things - we have learned of late - are bigger than football.

Cuadrado: 'Napoli defended with 11 men'

Juan Cuadrado insists Juventus ‘played good football, but Napoli defended with 11 men and it was difficult to find spaces’ in the Coppa Italia Final defeat.

It ended 0-0 on the night, with the Partenopei coming out 4-2 winners in the penalty shoot-out at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

“We went out there with the desire to win the game, but Napoli defended with 11 men and it was difficult to find spaces,” Cuadrado told RAI Sport.

The Partenopei pushed Juventus all the way in the Final this evening, eventually emerging triumphant after a penalty shoot-out.

“We gave our all because we want to achieve something truly special,” ‘Ciro’ Mertens told RAI Sport.

ADL: 'Everything changed with Gattuso'

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis insists their Coppa Italia triumph against Juventus was ‘in the air, as many things changed since Gennaro Gattuso arrived.’

The match ended 0-0 on the night in Rome, thanks largely to Gigi Buffon heroics and the woodwork, but the Partenopei won on penalties for their sixth Coppa trophy.

Gattuso: 'I believe in the God of Football'

Gennaro Gattuso praised his Napoli players for their Coppa Italia victory on penalties against Juventus. ‘I believe in the God of Football, you reap what you sow.’

This is the first piece of silverware that Gattuso has ever won as a coach, especially as he only took over from sacked Carlo Ancelotti in December.

It has been a truly traumatic month for Rino, whose sister died after a long illness.
