Ranieri: 'If Napoli call me...'

Claudio Ranieri has sent a message to Napoli. “If the President calls me, then I am here,” where he could be joined by David Trezeguet.

The Partenopei are now qualified for the Champions League group phase, but Coach Walter Mazzarri refuses to confirm he'll be there next season until he has discussed the matter with President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Among those linked with the bench are Ranieri, who is certainly not rushing to distance himself from the Stadio San Paolo.

Cavani ban reduced on appeal

Edinson Cavani's three-match ban has been reduced on appeal, but he'll still miss the final Juventus-Napoli game.

The striker was banned for three rounds after insulting the referee during a 2-1 defeat to Lecce.

His appeal has been partially accepted, so the ban reduced to two games plus a €10,000 fine.

It's not enough for him to play the final round on Sunday against Juventus, but at least Cavani will be available for the start of the new season.

Hamsik tops Milan wish-list

Napoli's Marek Hamsik and Sandro of Tottenham could be targeted by Italian champions Milan over the summer.

The Rossoneri, fresh from their Scudetto triumph, want to build a side which is competitive enough to fight for the Champions League.

According to various Italian media on Monday, Napoli star Hamsik is at the top of boss Massimiliano Allegri's wish-list.

Nevertheless, the San Siro giants know that signing such a player would be a problematic swoop.

Line-ups: Lavezzi and Motta move

Ezequiel Lavezzi is pushed up into a centre-forward role, while Thiago Motta is the trequartista in Napoli-Inter.

Tonight's 19.45 UK time kick-off at the San Paolo sees the Partenopei need just one point to ensure Champions League football.

Edinson Cavani and Giuseppe Mascara are both suspended, so Lavezzi has to move into a more advanced position with support from Marek Hamsik and the versatile Juan Zuniga.

Inter are defending second place and are without Wesley Sneijder, Dejan Stankovic, Lucio and Ivan Cordoba.

Mazzarri: 'Napoli's historic moment'

Walter Mazzarri realises Napoli face “an historic event and it must be a party” against Inter, returning to the Champions League after 21 years.

The tournament was called the European Cup the last time the Partenopei took part with Diego Armando Maradona in the squad and with one point on Sunday night they can be certain of entry.

“Tomorrow is a fundamental game. It will be an historic event, because Napoli have not qualified for the Champions League since the days of Maradona,” said the Coach.
