Line-ups: Mazzarri goes for experience

Napoli have opted for the experience of Christian Maggio and Walter Gargano when welcoming Genoa to the San Paolo this evening.

The Vesuviani need a victory to keep up with second-placed Inter and have essentially a full squad for this game.

Only Gianluca Grava is still on the treatment table, so Maggio, Michele Pazienza and Salvatore Aronica were chosen ahead of Juan Zuniga, Hasan Yebda and Victor Ruiz.

As always, the ‘Three Tenors' Marek Hamsik, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani start in attack.

As the clock ticked down at the San Paolo this evening, Marek Hamsik was “beginning to think the goal was cursed!”

Napoli had numerous chances before Hamsik's angled drive at the 83rd minute sealed a 1-0 result over Genoa.

“This is a fundamental victory for us. After a while I was beginning to think the goal was cursed!” joked the Slovak midfielder.

“The ball just did not want to go in, but fortunately we were able to break the deadlock towards the end.

Lavezzi staying at Napoli

Ezequiel Lavezzi's future is with Serie A revelation side Napoli, his agent Alejandro Mazzoni has underlined.

The Argentine has been linked with a move away from the Stadio San Paolo, but his agent has rejected such a hypothesis.

"I've read a few stories, but there is nothing in them," Mazzoni noted. "Il Pocho is only thinking about Napoli and his future is here.

"We have no meeting set up with Napoli because there is no need to discuss anything, there are no problems to resolve. Everything is fine.

Mazzarri: Time to react

Walter Mazzarri wants to see a reaction from Napoli when they play Genoa after suffering back-to-back defeats in Serie A.

Napoli have seen their title challenge fade in recent weeks, but there is still a chance of finishing the campaign in second place.

"The game against Genoa is not decisive because there are another three still to play," Mazzarri said.

"However we have never lost two games in a row since I've been at the club and it's the moment to show our attributes.

Quagliarella has been out of action since January with a serious knee injury.

"I don't regret leaving Napoli," he said. "I knew that they might do well, but I never expected them to do this well.
