Lavezzi: 'Napoli have title vibe'

Ezequiel Lavezzi admits that Napoli's players are beginning to feel like it could be their season.

The Partenopei currently lie second in Serie A, just three points behind League leaders Milan.

Sunday's 2-0 victory at home to Cesena also showed that Napoli can win even when they play badly.

"We didn't play a great game against Cesena," Lavezzi said. "We created few chances.

"However, we were good all the same because we won.

Napoli: No discounts for Quagliarella

Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis says Juventus won't be getting a discount on Fabio Quagliarella this summer.

Juventus have an option to buy the 27-year-old striker once his loan deal expires in Turin at the end of this season.

Quagliarella was Juventus' top scorer before suffering a serious knee injury in January.

There have been suggestions that Juventus will use this to haggle down Quagliarella's asking price.

"I won't gift Quagliarella to Juve," De Laurentiis said.

Mazzarri: 'I hope it's Napoli's year'

Walter Mazzarri has played down the focus on his own success in the last 12 months by telling reporters that he just hopes it's Napoli's year.

The 49-year-old has worked wonders since he arrived at San Paolo in October 2009 and was even in contention to win the Panchina d'Oro.

He has led Napoli to second place in Serie A this season, leading to suggestions that his side are genuine title contenders.

Sunday's 2-0 win against Cesena closed the gap with League leaders Milan to just three points, piling the pressure on even more.

Mazzarri 'curious' of Napoli reaction

Walter Mazzarri admits he is “curious to see how the lads will respond” to Napoli's surprise defeat as they take on Cesena.

The Partenopei are still clear in second place despite falling 2-0 against Chievo midweek.

“The defeat to Chievo disturbed me because, aside from the result, our performance was poor,” said the Coach.

“I don't think it was a lack of stamina, even if we are playing in a packed fixture list, but it can happen after a series of games to slip up.

Pazienza waits for Napoli

The agent of Napoli midfielder Michele Pazienza has rubbished reports that a summer move to Genoa is already finalised.

The midfielder has less than six months left on his contract and the Marassi outfit have shown an interest.

"There is no agreement with Genoa," said Vincenzo D'Ippolito. "It's just not true. Although Pazienza hasn't signed a new contract with Napoli yet, there is still time.

"The boy wants to just wait. At the end of the campaign we'll talk with the Napoli officials and then we'll see.

Ilicic better than Cavani, says Zampa

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini claims that Josip Ilicic is a better player than former Rosanero ace Edinson Cavani.

The latter was sold to Napoli in the summer in a decision the fiery chief doesn't regret despite Cavani currently being the Serie A top scorer.

Talking to Radio Kiss Kiss, the 69-year-old owner insisted that it was better to allow Cavani to leave than hold on to an unhappy player.

"When players reach a certain value they must be sold, especially if a bigger club comes in for them and they are happy to leave," he said.
