Napoli: Mazzarri out, Gasperini in?

Whispers in Italy that Napoli will replace Walter Mazzarri with Gian Piero Gasperini are getting louder.

Mazzarri's future at the San Paolo is in doubt after he refused to commit himself to the Azzurri despite leading them into the Champions League.

After talks between the Coach and President Aurelio De Laurentiis, it is being claimed that Mazzarri will now be dismissed.

The theory being suggested is that the unimpressed Napoli owner will sack the former Sampdoria tactician in favour of hiring Gasperini.

Hamsik: 'Milan interest wonderful'

Marek Hamsik admits “it's wonderful that Milan are interested in me, but if an offer arrived then I'd have to talk to Napoli first.”

The Slovak has been named by newspapers as the primary reinforcement for the Rossoneri and explained as much to Sme in his home country.

“It's wonderful that Milan are interested in me, of course, but I am accustomed to the newspapers writing things that don't come true,” said the midfielder.

According to the Gazzetta dello Sport, repeated requests for negotiations have been turned down by Partenopei President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Rossoneri transfer guru Adriano Galliani is waiting for Hamsik to send a sign that he would like to move on, thus opening the door for serious talks.

Mazzarri: 'I'll probably stay at Napoli'

Walter Mazzarri has reassured Napoli fans only days after hinting he'd quit. “It's probable I'll still be the Coach next season.”

The tactician had threatened to walk away if the club did not reinforce his squad for Champions League football.

It was also reported he'd be heading towards Juventus, who now seem to have picked Siena boss Antonio Conte instead.

“As far as I am concerned, it's much more probable that I'll still be the Coach next season,” declared Mazzarri in today's Press conference.

Thiago Motta 'too costly' for Napoli

Thiago Motta's agent said the Inter midfielder is “too expensive” for Napoli after reports of a summer switch.

“He is happy at Inter, but is one of those players who all the top clubs would want in their squad,” agent Dario Canovi told Radio CRC.

“Obviously we cannot rule out that Napoli would be interested in him.

“However, his wages are worth €3m per season, which is above the average at the Stadio San Paolo, so because of that it seems a fairly difficult proposition.”
