De Laurentiis Jr hopes for Cavani

Luigi De Laurentiis, son of Napoli President Aurelio, would like to see Edinson Cavani return - “he was a great hero for us”.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been linked with a return to the Stadio San Paolo, but he’d have to take a significant wage cut to make it happen.

“As a fan, who wouldn’t want to see Cavani back at Napoli?” asked De Laurentiis Jr in an interview with Corriere dello Sport.

Ochoa offered to Napoli?

Napoli have been offered the chance to buy Mexico international goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa for just €3m, according to TMW.

This is not the first time that they have been linked to the veteran shot-stopper, who has only one year left on his contract with Standard Liege.

The Partenopei already signed both Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis from Udinese, but Meret fractured a bone in his arm during training and will be out of action until mid-September.

Sarri: ‘Heartbroken by Napoli’

New Chelsea Coach Maurizio Sarri admits he was “heartbroken” to leave Napoli - “there were mistakes on both sides”.

The tactician was wildly popular with the San Paolo crowd, with his ‘Sarrismo’ brand of football taking the Partenopei to 91 points last season, even though they couldn’t win the Scudetto.

He fell out with President Aurelio De Laurentiis though, who appointed Carlo Ancelotti in his stead shortly after the season finished.

Today they have officially launched the new kit for the coming season, with a panther also incorporated into the famous blue shirt.

The patterned design by Kappa appears to be a darker shade than in recent years, with captain Marek Hamsik leading the social media campaign.

‘Younes motivated for Napoli’

Amin Younes’ agent assures he’s “motivated” to play for Napoli once he recovers from his injury.

The winger was set to join the Partenopei for a nominal fee in January, having already signed a pre-contract deal to move from Ajax.

Despite being in Naples to sign though, the German international performed a U-turn to stay in the Netherlands, and it then appeared he was trying to get out of moving to Serie A.

Younes has turned up to pre-season, but he will be out for several months with an achilles injury.

Ancelotti calls Di Maria

Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants to bring Paris Saint-Germain's Angel Di Maria to Napoli, but his €10m per season wages would be a problem.

The Partenopei are looking to finally overhaul Juventus and win the Scudetto this season, and links to the Argentine winger first arrived yesterday.

Now Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Carlo Ancelotti has called Di Maria, as he wants to bring him to Naples.

The pair worked together at Real Madrid, a period in which the 30-year-old played arguably the best football of his career.

Sarri a real departure for Chelsea

Maurizio Sarri is Italian like Antonio Conte, but Chelsea fans will learn the similarities largely end there, writes Nick Valerio.

Averaging a trophy a year in his time in charge, Antonio Conte was the latest in a long line of high-profile Coaches to receive his marching orders from the Stamford Bridge hot seat.

Successor Maurizio Sarri, who has finally taken his place in the dugout after his will-he-won’t-he saga, will be charged with bringing a sense of stability to a pre-season that has descended in to chaos.

Stoke City snubbed for Chiriches

Stoke City offered €15m for Romania international Vlad Chiriches, it’s reported, but Napoli rejected it outright.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a proposal arrived this week for the 28-year-old defender.

It’d be a return to England, as he played for Tottenham Hotspur from 2013 to 2015, when he made a €7m move to Napoli.

Carlo Ancelotti is eager to keep hold of Chiriches, who is a centre-back and can also play at right-back.

He only extended his contract in March and is tied to the Stadio San Paolo until June 2022.
