According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Birmingham midfielder Jordan James is Atalanta‘s main target if Ederson or Teun Koopmeiners leave in the summer.

The pink paper reports Atalanta have clear ideas about their squad for 2024-25 and have made 19-year-old Wales international James their priority target in the summer.

Atalanta are aware that one between Koopmeiners and Ederson could leave. According to the report, Newcastle tried to sign the Brazilian midfielder in the January transfer window, but La Dea refused to sell him.

Ederson has had a tremendous season at the Gewiss Stadium scoring six goals in 36 appearances across all competitions. His contract in Bergamo runs out in June 2026.

At the same time, Juventus are interested in Koopmeiners, but the Dutch international has also attracted interest from the Premier League, mainly from Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham.

If one of them goes, then Atalanta will invest in James. According to Gazzetta, La Dea are confident that Birmingham will lower their €10m asking price for the promising midfielder at the end of the season.
