Verona close to triple swoop

Verona have confirmed that they are close to a triple swoop of Torino’s Lucas Boye, Bologna’s Bruno Petkovic and Udinese’s Ryder Matos.

Speaking to Sportitalia about Verona’s January deals, sporting director Filippo Fusco explained Boye had the ‘characteristics’ to help the Rossoblu, while the arrivals of fellow forwards Petkovic and Matos were being ‘finalised’.

“Boye is a player that we’re following,” he told Sportitalia.

Verona close on Matos

Verona are close to signing striker Ryder Matos from Udinese, while targeting Bologna’s Bruno Petkovic and Lucas Boye of Torino.

Hellas have recovered from a disastrous start to the season, but remain in the danger zone and need reinforcements.

According to Tuttomercatoweb and Sportitalia, they have practically agreed terms with Udinese to sign Brazilian forward Matos.

The 24-year-old came through the Fiorentina youth academy, also playing for Cordoba, Palmeiras and Carpi.

Gasperini: ‘No Atalanta sales’

Gian Piero Gasperini is confident Atalanta “won’t let anyone leave between now and June”.

The Orobici beat Empoli tonight to maintain sixth-place in Serie A, and their form has led to interest in the likes of Mattia Caldara, Roberto Gagliardini and Franck Kessié.

“I think we won’t let anyone leave between now and June,” Gasperini told Sky after the final whistle.

“If there’s an opportunity we’ll try to become even stronger.

Atalanta finally break down Empoli

A last-gasp winner saw Atalanta past Empoli, in a game which the Orobici had completely dominated.

Levan Mchedlidze opened the scoring for the Tuscan side, but substitutes Franck Kessié and Marco D'Alessandro gave the home side a deserved win.

D’Alessandro: ‘I can’t fault Gasp’

Atalanta’s Marco D’Alessandro has come to the defence of underfire Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

La Dea have lost four of their opening five Serie A matches this season to lie second from bottom of the table, putting pressure on the experienced tactician.

“We want to change how the table is looking, Atalanta do not belong second bottom,” midfielder D’Alessandro told L’Eco di Bergamo.
