Report: Jankto has offer from Trabzonspor

Sampdoria are reportedly entering talks with Trabzonspor over Jakub Jankto, but the midfielder is not convinced.

Il Secolo XIX reports the Turkish side are interested in the Czech Republic international and have already offered the 25-year-old a lucrative deal.

Trabzonspor are in talks with Sampdoria and are hoping to secure a deal with the Blucerchiati.

The midfielder, however, is reportedly not convinced about the destination and seems set to reject the Turkish club.

Leao and Di Lorenzo suspended

The Disciplinary Commission announced seven bans after Serie A Week 17, including Milan forward Rafael Leao and Napoli defender Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Milan must cope without Leao in the 18th round of fixtures, whilst Napoli must cope without Di Lorenzo, who was also given a one-match ban.

Seven players in total are disqualified, with Pedro Obiang out for one match after his sending off against Juventus.

Tomas Rincon will miss Torino’s match against Spezia, whilst Parma must cope without Hernani against Sassuolo on Sunday.

Jankto: '15 have coronavirus at Sampdoria'

Sampdoria midfielder Jakub Jankto revealed “15 people have already been infected with coronavirus in the club,” more than had been previously confirmed.

Manolo Gabbiadini was the second Serie A player to test positive, rapidly followed by teammates Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina, Morten Thorsby, Fabio Depaoli and Bartosz Bereszynski.

Omar Colley had initially been named as positive, but later revealed a second test had cleared him.

Jankto reveals Ranieri effect

Sampdoria midfielder Jakub Jankto says new coach Claudio Ranieri has given the squad “more faith” as he prepares to face former club Udinese.

Samp have moved level on points with city rivals Genoa in 17th place since Ranieri’s appointment, and Jankto is confident they have turned a corner under the ex-Roma boss.

“With Ranieri we have more faith, he is a great person and a very good coach,” the 23-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

Official: Napoli buy Meret & Karnezis

Udinese have announced that goalkeepers Alex Meret and Orestis Karnezis have signed for Napoli permanently.

Meret and Karnezis joined Napoli last summer on loan with obligations to buy, and a statement released by Udinese on Tuesday confirmed options to make both deals permanent were exercised on February 1.

The same also applies to Sampdoria and their deal for Jakub Jankto last summer, resulting in the Zebrette posting capital gains of ‘over €40m’.

Sampdoria reject Inter’s Jankto bid

Inter made an offer for Jakub Jankto, according to reports, but Sampdoria made it clear they’ll keep him until at least the end of the season.

The Czech midfielder joined the Blucerchiati from Udinese in the summer, but has only made two Serie A starts for Marco Giampaolo’s side.

Jankto was seen as a hugely promising talent during his time in Udine though, and Tuttosport reports that Inter made an offer to take him to San Siro.

Mertens scores, Ilicic sees red

Napoli forward Dries Mertens scored a stunner as Belgium drew 1-1 with the Netherlands, while Atalanta’s Josip Ilicic saw red for Slovenia.

It was a mixed bag this evening for Serie A players on international duty.

Jakub Jankto allowed Sampdoria to beat Viterbese and set up a Coppa Italia Fourth Round meeting with SPAL.

It proved a real slog at Marassi for Marco Giampaolo’s men, who struggled to break down the Serie C outfit.

Gaston Ramirez had the best opportunity of the first half, his free kick from a huge distance smacking the frame of the goal.

Another Ramirez set play tested the Viterbese goalkeeper, but Gregoire Defrel fired a promising counter-attack wide.

Mid-table clubs aiming higher
