Romagnoli set to miss Milan run-in

Stefano Pioli says Alessio Romagnoli will ‘almost certainly’ miss Milan’s remaining three fixtures this season.

Romagnoli was instantly taken off after he made an awkward landing during the 2-1 win at Sassuolo, and Pioli admits he is not expecting his captain to return any time soon.

“Romagnoli picked up a muscle problem, which will almost certainly rule him out of all our remaining matches,” the coach told Milan TV after the game.

Conti: 'Bring mental strength to Milan'

Andrea Conti admits it “hasn’t been easy”, but he is “stronger mentally” after the injury nightmare and hopes to share that new attitude with struggling Milan.

The former Atalanta full-back has taken part in five games for the Rossoneri, after being kept on the sidelines by two serious knee injuries since his move in 2017.

“It’s been two difficult years, also the last period hasn’t been easy either,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “But, I knew I would return to my level.”

Amateur hour at Milan

The latest Milan performance was disconcerting for Kaustubh Pandey, as even the basics seemed beyond them against a decimated Roma.

Milan’s fifth defeat in just nine rounds made clear the extent of the problems they are dealing with. Defeat at the Olimpico is understandable enough, but not when gifting two goals to a decimated and exhausted Roma side.
