Conti ‘close to Milan comeback’

Andrea Conti is reportedly ‘getting closer and closer’ to resuming training with Milan after two knee operations.

According to Sky Sport Italia, ‘light finally seems to be at the end of the tunnel’ for Conti, who has been out for more than a year with knee problems.

It seems like a positive development, given a previous report claimed the 24-year-old was not expected back until January.

Conti back in January?

Andrea Conti’s Milan return has reportedly been put back until January.

Conti was ruled out for much of last season with damaged knee ligaments, before needing a second operation to correct some distortion.

The right-back had initially been tipped to come back in September and then October, but Tuttosport claims the Supercoppa against Juventus on January 13 is now the ‘objective’.

The 24-year-old was one of the Rossoneri’s big-money signings in the summer of 2017, leaving Atalanta in a €24m deal.

‘Conti understands Milan exclusion’

Andrea Conti’s agent agrees with Milan’s decision to exclude the right-back from the Europa League as it gives a chance to someone ‘who can give more’.

Conti was left out of Milan’s squad for the group stage, given he is still on the mend from a serious knee injury, but Mario Giuffredi revealed his client had been consulted by the Rossoneri beforehand.

Milan cut Conti and Strinic

Milan have left injured Andrea Conti and Ivan Strinic out of the squad list for the Europa League group stage, but include Riccardo Montolivo.

The Rossoneri are in the same group as Real Betis, Olympiacos and Dudelange.

Right-back Conti joined the club from Atalanta for €24m in July 2017, but has made only five competitive appearances for the club.

He tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee in September 2017 and required another operation in April 2018.

Milan: Conti back in October?

Andrea Conti will reportedly be back available for Milan at the start of October.

Conti was ruled out for much of last season with damaged knee ligaments, before needing a second operation to correct some distortion.

The right-back had been tipped for a September return, but Tuttosport does not foresee him doing so until the following month.

The 24-year-old was one of the Rossoneri’s big-money signings in the summer of 2017, leaving Atalanta in a €24m deal.

Milan drop seven for US tour

Milan have called up Pepe Reina, Leonardo Bonucci, Alen Halilovic, Andrea Bertolacci and Nikola Kalinic for their US tour, but seven are dropped.

Reina and Halilovic travel after their recent arrivals from Napoli and Hamburg respectively, as do Bonucci, Bertolacci and Kalinic, despite reports that the trio are close to leaving Milan.

However, Gustavo Gomez, Riccardo Montolivo, Carlos Bacca and goalkeeper Gabriel seem to already be on their way out after they were overlooked.

Mirabelli: 'No false promises'

Milan director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli warned not to “take fans for a ride or make false promises” with Alvaro Morata rumours.

The Rossoneri continue to be linked with various top players, but the Financial Fair Play ruling could inflict a fine, limit the squad or even see them excluded from the Europa League.

“We will have a careful and contained approach to the market that respects the rules,” Mirabelli told Sky Sport Italia.

Abate future depends on Conti

Ignazio Abate could leave Milan for LA Galaxy in MLS, but his future depends on Andrea Conti’s recovery from injury.

The right-back has been linked with a move to the U.S, where he’d link up with former teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Today’s Tuttosport reports that the Rossoneri are ready to allow Abate to leave, but first they must evaluate Conti’s condition.

The 24-year-old joined from Atalanta last summer, but two serious injuries limited him to just five appearances in his first season.

‘Conti a pillar for Milan’s future’

Sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli calls Andrea Conti “a pillar of the Milan that’s to come”.

The full-back joined the Rossoneri from Atalanta in the summer, but he hasn’t played since September after a cruciate ligament injury.

Last week he had a second operation to stabilise the joint, so he won’t be back in action until next season.

“We’re waiting for you, Andrea,” Mirabelli wrote on Instagram.

Milan give Conti, Romagnoli updates

Milan’s team doctor has given an update on Alessio Romangoli and Andrea Conti, with the former to be evaluated again in “10-12 days”.

Romangoli went off injured in the draw with Sassuolo, and it was confirmed yesterday that he has a thigh injury and won’t be fit to face Napoli this weekend.

“Alessio suffered a muscular strain in the early stages of Sunday’s game,” doctor Stefano Melegati told the Rossoneri’s official website.
