Atalanta squad list for Liverpool

Atalanta travel to Liverpool without Mattia Caldara, Fabio Depaoli and Mario Pasalic, as Gian Piero Gasperini has announced his squad.

Liverpool host La Dea in the fourth round of the Champions League group stage tomorrow night and coach Gasperini must cope without Caldara, Depaoli and Pasalic at Anfield.

Report: Caldara out for two months

Atalanta must reportedly cope without Mattia Caldara for two to three months, as he requires surgery on his left knee.

Caldara, who returned to Bergamo from Milan in January, has been carrying an injury in the patellar tendon for a long time and Sky Sport Italia reveals he will decide when to undergo an operation in the next few hours.

The defender was not in the squad for last match against Cagliari and will, according to the report, remain out for at least two to three months.

Caldara: 'I'll get my old form back'

Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara has vowed to show that ‘I’m still the player people saw in Bergamo before I left’.

Caldara returned to Atalanta in January after two years of injury hell at Milan, managing just two appearances in all competitions and not featuring at all in Serie A.

“Right now, I’m not thinking about the future,” he told Corriere di Bergamo.

“I’m focused on the present and I want to show that I’m still the player people saw in Bergamo before I left.

Caldara: 'Milan still burns'

Atalanta defender Mattia Caldara has revealed the unsuccessful stint at Milan 'still burns', but vowed to ‘make another leap in quality’ after the forced break.

The 25-year-old moved to Milan via Juventus in the summer of 2018, but only made two appearances for them in all competitions due to two serious injuries.

“At Milan, for the first time in my life, I was unable to repay the trust I was shown by the club, to express myself at my level,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “It still burns a lot, it was a defeat.

'Beautiful' San Siro return for Caldara

Coppa line-ups: Fiorentina-Atalanta

Patrick Cutrone and Mattia Caldara are given their first starts for Fiorentina and Atalanta in today’s Coppa Italia Round of 16 tie.

Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini has admitted that Mattia Caldara "might start" against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia. "He has come to make up for lost time".

Caldara returned after one and a half seasons at Milan, but his spell with the Rossoneri was haltered by injuries.

Caldara: 'Won't let Atalanta down'

Mattia Caldara does “not want to let Atalanta down” after returning to Bergamo from Milan. “Nothing really has changed since I left.”

The defender returned to his hometown club after spells at Juventus and Milan, moving on an 18-month loan with obligation to buy for €15m.

“I am really excited to be here again, but I see returning to Atalanta as a starting point,” Caldara told the official club channel.
