Giovinco all set for Al-Hilal

There are strong reports Sebastian Giovinco has agreed terms with Al-Hilal and will leave Toronto FC after four years.

It had already been suggested almost a week ago that the Atomic Ant was in negotiations for a switch to Saudi Arabia.

Now the rumours out of Canada claim the deal has been done.

Toronto FC are expected to receive a fee of around $2-3m for the player who turned 32 last week.

Giovinco to Al-Hilal?

Having failed to coax Papu Gomez from Atalanta, Al-Hilal are reportedly close to a deal for Toronto FC star man Sebastian Giovinco.

According to journalist Mootaz Chehade, Al-Hilal are in advanced negotiations with Giovinco’s agent, who is currently in Saudi Arabia.

An entry visa has already been granted and an announcement could be imminent.

Giovinco celebrates his 32nd birthday tomorrow and has been in Canada with Toronto FC since February 2015.

Saputo quits Impact job for Bologna

Joey Saputo has hired Kevin Gilmore as President of the Montreal Impact, meaning he can focus more on revitalising Bologna.

The Italo-Canadian businessman owns both the MLS club and Serie A side.

“The Montreal Impact announced on Tuesday the nomination of Kevin Gilmore as the club’s president and chief executive officer, allowing Joey Saputo to focus on his ownership duties,” read a statement.

“I’m proud to announce the nomination of Kevin Gilmore as president and CEO of the club,” said Joey Saputo.

Saputo: 'Bologna plan will change'

Bologna patron Joey Saputo warned “the plan must change and it will change” with strong investments to go from relegation contenders to European competition.

The Rossoblu are currently sitting in the bottom three, but have brought in Villarreal pair Nicola Sansone and Roberto Soriano.

“As we start the year, I want to assure our fans and our partners that under no uncertain terms is relegation an option for us,” said the Canadian businessman who also owns MLS club Montreal Impact in a video message.

Veloso leans towards MLS

Genoa midfielder Miguel Veloso reportedly rejected a move to Frosinone, as he is leaning towards proposals from MLS.

According to Sportitalia, the 32-year-old Portugal international is already on his way only three months after signing for Genoa.

His rapport with the Grifone supporters has been tense, as he is considered a representative of unpopular President Enrico Preziosi, especially as he is married to the club patron’s daughter.

Parma seek LA Galaxy's Alessandrini

Parma are said to be tracking LA Galaxy’s French winger Romain Alessandrini in the January transfer window.

According to RMC Sport, the 29-year-old could be on his way back to Europe two years after his €3m switch to MLS.

He has impressed at the LA Galaxy, contributing 24 goals and 21 assists in 50 MLS starts.

Alessandrini’s contract runs to December 2019 and, as the name suggests, he has Italian ancestry.

In France, he played for Gueugnon, Clermont Foot, Rennes and Olympique Marseille.

Everton Luiz to Real Salt Lake

SPAL midfielder Everton Luiz is on the verge of a transfer to MLS club Real Salt Lake, on loan with option to buy in December 2019.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the deal is done and only paperwork and a medical remain to be finalised.

The Brazilian is set to join RSL on loan until December 31 2019, with an option to make the move permanent.

The 30-year-old had a very brief stay in Serie A, joining SPAL from Partizan Belgrade in January 2018.

Palermo's Struna heading to Houston

Palermo defender Aljaz Struna is reported to be leaving the Serie B side for MLS club Houston Dynamo.

According to Sportitalia, a deal has been struck for the 28-year-old Slovenia international.

He has been in Italy since 2012, featuring for Palermo, Varese and Carpi.

Struna’s contract with the Sicilians is due to expire in June.

Nocerino eyes MLS return

Antonio Nocerino has officially terminated his contract with Benevento, amid reports the ex-Orlando City midfielder will return to MLS.

The 33-year-old had joined Benevento in Serie B as a free agent over the summer and made nine appearances for the club in all competitions.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the decision to leave was a personal one and that is also pushing him towards a return to America.

Among his former clubs, Nocerino has represented Juventus, Milan, West Ham United, Torino and Parma.

Ibra explains Galaxy stay

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has explained his decision to reject Milan for LA Galaxy. “I came here to end my career.”

Ibrahimovic was widely expected to re-join Milan after the Galaxy’s failure to qualify for the MLS playoffs, but the American side confirmed on Tuesday that the former Juventus and Inter striker had been kept on as a Designated Player

“There was a lot of talk, but I never left,” the 37-year-old told reporters.
